Yesterday, I was attempting to do some quick reporting from here in Center City Philadelphia where the campaign is going to be front and center for the next month-and-a-half. Since I have a busy job and since I don't have hours to compose my posts so that each side feels that I am not favoring the other, I made the 'grave error' of mentioning that I had witnessed something that was going on on the sidewalk across from the Democratic City Committee where former President Clinton was going to address the Ward Leaders, followed by Congressman Patrick Murphy for the Obama Campaign. I also stated that something was going on one side of the street which was 'verbally' thrown back across to the other side. I then stated that I could hear loud crowd noises although I could not see what was going on. This was because I had already returned to my office, and the first thing I did was sit down and post for the benefit of DUers. Well, bad nasty, ignorant, stupid, insincere me FORGOT TO INCLUDE THE FACT THAT I WAS NO LONGER ON WALNUT STREET. So shoot me...
One poster came after me like I was the Devil incarnate...angry, hostile, vituperative, and nasty. Well, if someone wants to get nasty with me, then I will get nasty to them and it will escalate exponentially. and you know what...I don't give a fig. People who unnecessarily don't give an individual the benefit of the doubt belong in an Anarchistic Underground website. I am working in the epicenter of the PA campaign...I would like to be able to say something around here without getting my head blown off, but I am not going to get bombarded like this for no reason at all. So I will give the feisty folk a reason to get upset ex post facto.
I will continue to post tidbits as they come into my office - I treat many of the ward Leaders, staff of officials, including those who work with the Mayor and Federal House and Senate leaders and quite a few junior officials in the Commonwealth government including the Governor's Office. I am happy to divulge what I can, but please for God's sake, take it easy.
For the record, and FWIW which is exactly nothing, I have, believe it or not, no preference in the Primary race so far. I don't see why anyone would give a crap whether an insignificant putz like me has made up his or her mind, but for some, the definition of a schmuck is someone who supports the 'other' candidate. If this makes me a giant asshole, well, that's too bad too. I have the right to take my time in order to make up my mind...but only if that's OK with some folk here.
