What Obama needs to come out and say right now is this:

"There is NO chance... I repeat... NO chance that I will ask Senator Clinton to join my ticket, and I would not accept an invitation from her, in the very unlikely event that she wins the nomination, to be on hers. Democrats need to make a choice. Either you want a continuation of the politics of division that is represented by John McCain and Hillary Clinton, or you want to usher in a new kind of politics in Washington. Make the choice, Democrats. If you vote for Hillary, you are voting for a politics of 'same old, same old'. Hillary Clinton is correct... John McCain has lots of experience. If 'experience' is your issue, neither Senator Clinton nor myself can beat John McCain - so John McCain is your candidate.

But if you want to change the way that Washington does business, then there is only one choice. I ask you to join me in changing the culture."

(or words to that effect)

This "Dream Ticket" strategy by the Clintons is meant to get voters who "like them both" to relent. He needs to stop it in its tracks.

1. Absolutely yes. This is a blatant attempt by Hill and Bill and surrogates to tap into
Obama's vote. They must NOT be allowed to do it, agreed.

A "Dream Ticket" for who?

Where Hillary goes, the DLC's corporate tentacles, and by extension, the Rethugs, follow. Obama would have to look over his shoulder constantly. Dream ticket, my

10. If you haven't noticed, half of the Democratic party is already alienated!
He needs to end this "dream ticket" stuff. It would make Democrats look like idiots to put the two adversaries as running mates....oh, what fodder for the repukes!

12. So, alienate them any further? I don't see the logic...
...and I apologize for sounding like an ass in my post- it wasn't my intention. I don't think Obama needs to make a Shermanesque statement like this. Something like, "I will evaluate all potential candidates individually, and make my choice based on who could best serve this country and what we're trying to do." It leaves it open enough, but pretty much closes the door, depending on which talking head is reporting.

19. OK..your suggestion would work too...he just has to say something
that won't lead people to think he and Hillary could be running mates. No apology needed.

I kind of think it shows desperation on the Clintons' part to keep pushing this. In that sense, it may benefit Obama for them to continue doing so.

13. Actually, it's creating the mind set that he is Veep material and nothing more.
I don't like it. If they keep saying that, she'll be stuck with him.

He would not be loyal to her. He is only loyal to himself.

16. The problem is,
Out of one side of her mouth she's saying he's not qualified to be president and out of the other side of her mouth she's saying she wants him as VP. I don't think anyone is buying it. The reason it's a sign of desperation is that she has almost no chance of winning the nomination at this point, so it would be her as VP, not Obama.

Attend funerals and the like. Al Gore was a special case and had a real say in things.

11. Wrong aproach. I think it's his decision and we all need to stand by it
if he wins, no matter if it's Hillary Clinton or Jim Webb, or John Edwards for that matter....or Al Gore?....Joe Biden?

So many qualified people to choose from. We have a lot of great people on our side, Dems.

14. He consistently says that it is premature to discuss this.
And your wanting him to say something different does not make it right.

Do you have a source on the Clintons "Dream Ticket" strategy, because I haven't heard her say that? She has said that she knows that a lot of people (including myself) would like to vote for them both and she does not rule that out in the future.

I am not sure what you mean by "like them both" (as if we are some kind of false group). I also don't understand what you mean by relent.

I realize that there are some supporters of Obama that see a joint ticket as anathema, but there are many who feel very differently and would see it as the perfect ticket.

26. A better response...
...the next time he is asked about sharing a ticket with Hillary:

"Based on what Senator Clinton has been saying of late, it appears that she would prefer to be on John McCain's ticket, so you might want to ask him that question."
