CHALLENGE: Give us the list of thought-leaders who have defended the "he has a speech" remarks...
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 07:26 PM by DeadElephant_ORG

...are there ANY ????

Name the party leaders, or notable progressive commentators, who have argued that the "...Obama has a speech..." remarks were fair game.

You can tear down Kieth Olberman, Arianna Huffington, Gary Hart, Richard Wolf, Dana Millbank, Randi Rhodes, Ed Schultz, Rachael Maddow, Thom Hartmann, Stephanie Miller - all of whom have spoken out against Hillary's ill-advised comments - all you want. But who has stood up to support Hillary's remarks? Who?

I like all three of them. But I just googled everything I could find from them issued over the past 3 days, and although they are avid supporters of Clinton, I could find no comments from any of them regarding the "...Obama has a speech..." remarks.

If not, what they have said does NOT compare with what Hillary said.

26. Hillary didn't say that, either, and you know it.
"I think you'll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say. He's never been president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech made in 2002."

Meaning, you know where McCain stands, you can imagine the things he will say, because he has a lifetime of experience we can look back on to see. Think about it for a minute... it's not a very positive comment about what he will do. She's saying you can see the same for me, too, but that Obama only offers his 2002 speech. It's also worth noting that this comment was in reference to national security and foreign policy.

Now, how many of our Democratic leaders agreed with Obama's praise of Reagan and his criticism of Bill Clinton's presidency?

27. that's the softest version of her remarks. Here's the hardest:
"I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002."

Now, if she's saying that experience is the most important thing, and that McCain has it, and Obama doesn't, then she's telling Americans to vote for McCain over Obama. There's no getting around this. If there was ANY way to get around it, her many supporters in high office would have jumped to her defense, as some of those on DU have done. But they haven't. They've had 3 days to speak up, and they are all

silent

The comparison to Obama's comments about Reagan and Bill Clinton is false: neither Reagan nor Bill are this years Republican nominee.

28. The quote I posted was her actual quote, verbatim.
What you posted is the condensed and parsed version on the internets.

And who cares if he's the nominee or not? Praising the ideology of Reagan's administration while criticising the policy-driven Bill Clinton administration is indefensible.

Here's video of all four repetitions so you can get the feel of this for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMVOT-IH8sg

I did not condense anything. I quoted her THIRD REPETITION of that bile.

Hillary again endorses McCain over Obama, in 3 more TV appearances

She said it three more times in the past day. Why the hell is she saying that the Republican candidate is more qualified to be president than our own presumptive nominee? And what the hell does our party plan to do on stopping this train wreck? She can't win, it's over, she doesn't have the delegates and can't get the delegates. She's hoping she can destroy Obama and step in after he's toast. And if she's wrong, she'll simply leave Obama destroyed for the general election campaign against McCain, the guy she has now said four times is more qualified to be president than our presumptive nominee. Here is the first time she endorsed McCain over Obama, and watch her three additional TV appearances below.

2nd time: " never been president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002."

3rd time: "I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002."

4th time: "Of course, well, you know, I've got a lifetime of experience. Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience. And you know, Senator Obama's whole campaign is about one speech he made in 2002."

44. Like Wolfson, McAuliffe falls a bit short on the "thought leader" stipulation.
He's just a political hack. (as would be Carville, Axelrod, Plouffe, Begala, ...)

I expect the OPer is looking for any Democratic elected officials or their policy advisors.
