The DU has turned into
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 03:41 AM by CatnHat
a third grade analysis of politics. Obama blows his nose, it's on a thread; Obama kisses babies, it's on a thread; Obama gets a second rate endorsement; it's on a thread. Oh brother. A candidate with no great accomplishments is worshiped by some people as a god; and to top it off, Obama and supporters proclaim it's Hillary Clinton who is destroying the democratic party.

The democratic party has been around a long time, and the likes of Obama and his fans are the newbies. Obama, and his fans have no respect for the party whatsoever, they are just utterly consumed in winning, not for the party, but for their own egos. It's sickening. If this is what the democratic party has stooped too, I am changing my registration to independent, right after I vote for Clinton. That's it. If the leadership of our party, can't figure out what to with Obama and his upstart followers, than it's time to the right thing; and leave the democratic party to the crazed fans and their "candidate" who has absolutely no credentials.

I have been a democrat for many years; and have never seen such vile, disrespectful behavior portrayed by some Obama supporters like I have seen on this board. If you condone it, fine, act like a bunch of republicans on steroids. Be my guest. I think it's you and your ilk who might need to figure out what "party" you actually represent.

And by the way, I don't give a rat's ass who votes for who; but let me say this, this is the Obama campaign's problem, keeping his supporters in line. Take your dirty tactics and posts to someone else who might appreciate them.

You're the one who's talking about leaving the party because everyone doesn't see things your way.

"I think it's you and your ilk who might need to figure out what "party" you actually represent."

Actually, I don't deign to 'represent' a party, but I am a member of one, the Democratic Party.

You might have heard of us - we believe in being able to vote for the candidate of our own choice, not yours.

Dirty tactics? I didn't realize that supporting my candidate of choice was a "tactic" - I thought it was part of the party's process of selecting a nominee.

Maybe you can enlighten all of us as to how the party should be run - before you leave it, of course.

32. Yes,
I simply called out the "tactics" being used by some Obama supporters. This is not a republican board, the slams made here do represent "republican" tactics. Whether you believe it or not, your choice. It's my choice also, to give my opinion, that's my choice. If you can't see the difference, that is your problem.

And as far as process of selecting a nominee, the democratic party is in chaos, and that's what bothers me, and in my opinion, it is due to largely to the fact that more emphasis is being placed in character bashings than the issues; and evidentially that all that seems to matter with some Obama supporters. You can try to patronize me all you want, it doesn't change my opinion on what our "party" has stooped too.

56. You post about how the Obama supporters ...
... are ruining this board, and this election process, and threaten to "leave the party" out of disgust.

You lump all Obama supporters together, and carry on about how they don't care about the party or the country, only their own egos. And you obviously have a real problem with the concept of Democrats being permitted to make their own choice between the two candidates running, instead of just deferring to your superior expertise in deciding who should be president.

And then you whine about what a cesspool of infighting and insults this board has become.

You are, if nothing else, highly amusing.

There has been just as much filth from YOUR side, dear. Actually more proportioniately, when you consider there are fewer Clintonians than Obamanians here. People who see the bashing as one sided are simply fools or blinded partisans or both. And I can't say what I think of YOUR ilk who won't vote for the dem candidate. I don't care if you support Clinton or Obama but if you won't vote for the dem nominee, you are simply petty and selfish.

37. besides the fact that threads like this attempt to sell the impression that ...
....the actions of a vociferous but small minority represent the entirety of obama's support base, either out there or here at DU (either way a paradigmatic part-for-whole fallacy), there's something else going on.

about a dozen + times a day now some "neutral-postured" clinton advocate comes steamrolling in ranting, scathing, pontificating, razing in such a reactionary maelstrom about how obama's people are so disrespectful, angry, entitled, puerile....

...

when the same thing going on both sides there are only a few interpretive possibilities:

if it's a joke: irony

if both are accepted: paradox

if one is denied: contradiction

if the other is practiced as the one: hypocrisy

this could be cut and pasted to any thread like it; on both sides for that matter. you be the judge...

I am sick of seeing posts by new voters who proclaim Obama must win at all costs. What the hell is that. The tactics used by some Obama supporters aren't "democratic". Before people join a party, make sure what the party stands for, clue, the "democratic" party doesn't operate like the republicans. I am not from the "old school"; just hate seeing the democratic party demonized by some of the Obama supporters.

10. You forgot the converse
Obama blows his nose, it's on a thread that says it is a proof of failure of his healthcare plan.

Obama kisses babies, it's on a thread that says it is a proof he is a pedophile.

Obama gets a second rate endorsement it's on a thread that says th endorser stole a pack of gum when he was twelve andObama is complicit.

Your overall disgust with the quality of threads is understandable. The repeats, and threepeats of the same arguments, polls, etc. But there are many people pulling for both candidates that stretch from newbies to seniors. The Ego thing is shared by the supporters of both candidates, for example, a Hillary supporter threatening to change party affiliation.

The blame falls on both sides, and frankly this thread, itself is an example of the same silliness you are complaining about.

Secondly, I, for one, heve been a dem for 30 years and a dem activist for almost 25. I don't adore Obama. I think he's a flawed candidate, but he's who I support and in my view he's less imperfect than Hill. Furthermore, my 87 year old mother who's been a dem activist for 60+ years supports him- and she's been a delegate to 4 conventions. My forty something and fifty something brother and sisters support Obama- all long time dems.

26. Right after voting for Clinton, I'm going to
expose the fraudulent so-called progressive and left wing blogmasters as exactly what they are. Paid money changers who traffic in web ads and hits. Performance artist wannabees who have no other way to have their voice heard but to participate in some type of frenetic orgy of idolatry over a political figure. Pseudo-MSM bashers who just want their take of the cut. The Democratic Party will thrive and survive without the maniacal tantrum throwing juveniles who think huddling in a mass of 15 to 25 year olds represents Democracy. Get this young and deluded Democrats. Being a progressive Democrat doesn't mean that the next step in the political progression process is evolving into rugby like matches where fans start brawls in the stands.

Where did all this raging anger and hatred of women in Obama supporters come from? The only thing"new" about Obama is that he will be the new St.Patrick of America, enticing the little narcissistic snakes of the Democratic Party to drown in their own self-absorption.

You won't be able to do any such thing. Most of the left wing bloggers aren't paid money changers- well hill fan Taylor Marsh is, but everyone knows that. And most of Obama's supporters aren't under 25 as can be seen in the demographics of who voted.

The vast majority of Obama supporters do NOT hate women, and there's been plenty of racism on this very board directed toward Obama. Lots of tombstones due to it.

Obama is not some charlatan mass hypnotist anymore than Hill is an evil neo-con in dem clothing. That's all stupid hyperbole. Congrats on joining the idiot group.

Oh, and I'm 52 and a dem of over 30 years. And a woman. And a mother. And someone who will vote for the dem nominee. And I think you're simply a bitter little soul.

36. Bitter Old or Little Soul?
Wow. Taylor Marsh is a paid money-changer? Interesting. And you've polled everyone and they all knew that? Did you poll people about Randi Rhodes or other people? Randi gets paid, doesn't she? Interesting how I stated nothing about race, but it was your response to Obama supporters not hating women. Obama is just a vehicle, like any Saint, of reinforcing a certain gospel. Also very interesting you use the expression "bitter little soul". I know that the "little"part is just coincidentally homophobic. But Thank You for sharing your feelings with me. Oh, and did I state that I wouldn't vote for Obama if he secures the nomination? Also, what I've seen in my decades of life as a Democrat, is that women can be as hateful of other women as men can be of women. Race? You don't have a clue who you are talking to, but you're definitely right about racist posts on this board. The Demographics of Obama votes are debatable. Do you think that every Obama supporter would go into their Congressperson's office and demand they support Obama's plans? Not if they are Repukes messing with the primary system. Obama doesn't do so well in closed primaries. That has to give you some clue.

I'm out of here again. This is like a really bad take off of Lord of the Flies.

As ugly as Obama supporters have been and continue to be towards Hillary, it is the Democratic rank and file that I'm beginning to lose all respect for.

Democrats aren't supposed to be the charisma-worshippers in this equation. It's just obscene, made ten times more unacceptable given the blatantly insufficient - even when inflated - resume of Obama and his complete lack of proven skills. Is it for reading rah-rah preachery speeches off of teleprompters? I'm already tired of them completely, and I can't be the only one. Or is it losing 20 debate performances in a row that appeals to Dems?

If this is Democrats now, then what does Democratic mean any more? Is it all just Political Idol with Obama as Sanjaya? It would have to be worse than that, because at least American Idol fans voted Sanjaya off.

I keep wating for the Democratic party to wake up.
