Obama Campaigned For The Guy Who Won Hastert's Seat
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 09:10 AM by Magic Rat
Apparently Hillary's support wasn't asked for. Or wanted. Either one.

Can't say I blame the guy. He was trying to WIN after all.

Score one for Obama. Just a sample of what we can expect in the fall when he's at the top of the ticket and his popularity filters down to the other candidates on the ballot.

1. Thank you for pointing this out.
I saw a thread last night that said Obama had "nothing to do" with that win. Then I heard this morning on NPR that Obama campaigned for him, so yes he did.

Thanks for pointing out the TRUTH.

2. red states dems are going to be begging for Obama to campaign for them
and begging Hillary to stay away.

How can we nominate someone who half the country wants to avoid and distance themselves from?

3. It would make sense for an Illinois senator to campaign in an Illinois race, is it not?
Hey, this *is* good news! Good morning.

5. Tee hee. Guess Obama beat McCain in that race.
Sure, conservatives think it's not a harbinger of things to come - they will do everything they can to ensure that it's McCain vs. Clinton instead of McCain vs. Obama.

6. Obama Campaigned Heavily For Foster - a sign of things to come-
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 09:24 AM by mikekohr
-From Downstate Illinois, next door to Hastert's old district-

The utter disgust of Illinois voters with the corruption in the Republican leadership did not hurt Bill Foster's chances. I've met Representative-elect Foster. Bill is a smart, reform minded, ethical, man and a strong candidate who developed his own computorized system to get out the vote. Congratulations to Mr Foster and best wishes. Foster deserves full credit for this stunning upset. But there is one other point that must be factored into his victory.

The endorsement and media ads featuring Senator Barack Obama touting the qualifications of Bill Foster probably played a big part in Foster's upset victory in a rock-ribbed Republican district. Obama has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to attract independents, moderates AND Republican votes, demographics critical to winning the White House and lifting the entire Democratic ticket in ALL 50 states.

If you want to reduce the Republican presense in Washington this fall, and cast them into history's trashbin of failed political movements, Obama is the candidate at the top of our ticket that will all but ensure that happens,

7. Dems can ride on his coattails in Nov. If HRC is nominee, we'll lose House & Senate due to all
Repukes coming out in full to defeat her. They'll vote straight ticket. That's the real danger of her "winning" the nomination. rec'd
