Obama SHOULD CONNECT the Clinton's secrecy with the Working Class Fears
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 10:05 AM by Armstead
Meet the Press and This Week made something hit home. It was a little bit of what was said, but also what they didn't say.

The spouting pundits said that Obama has to connect more with the economic concerns of the working class. They basically said that calling for Clinton's tax returns and the Clinton library records is a process issue that average voters are not likely to care about, especially with all of the economic bad news lately.

But there IS A CONNECTION, if only the Obama campaign would think outside the box and use it.

It does matter because the Clinton's support and close associations affect how they would handle the economic issues that affect the working class directly. Ties to big corporate backers and foreign companies and governments.

How can the Clinton's claim to want to rebuild the American domestic economy when Bill is out currying favor with the same people who are outsourcing and buying out America?

Even when it may not be a direct tit-for-tat, how can Hillary be expected to break the mold that has been gutting the American economy and pushing down the middle and working classes when she and Bill are spending their time hobnobbing and getting Big Bucks from the special interests responsible for that?

I hope the Obama campaign wakes up and actually does start thinking outside the box, instead of fighting back with the same old tired tactics of diversions and phony side-issues that the Clintons are so good at.

1. I think he should press for her tax returns and the library donors. That's

not a "side issue", that strikes to the heart of her integrity, character and leadership. The media is trying to warn Obama off of hurting her--this is what Howard Wolfson tried to do when he called Obama "Ken Starr"--that was a warning not to "go there". I guess the media wants to save those goodies for the GOP in the fall, if she ends up the nominee. How can we elect Hillary if she hasn't been properly vetted? Just imagine what the GOP will do with this (note: same argument that Hillarites always make about Obama). There's no reason why Obama can't retool his speeches at the same time--he did it in WI and OH.

edit to add: the connection you raise is a good one.

4. Clintons are the Bushes wearing Donkey Masks. They push Global Fascist Agenda and
distract Dems and GOP bases with the dog and pony shows they put up to keep the PERCEPTION of rivalry in the headlines.

5. Or, of course, he could try offering the working class some reason to vote for him.
That's a bold proposal, I know, but far more noble than fearmongering.

6. It can be both
Obama should also provide a counterpoint with real answers to deal with the economic pressures on the poor and middle classes.

I guess I'd call that a one-two-punch.

My point is that he should fight back, but take a step beyond the level of personal meaningless sniping.

9. True, Obama has already
Turned peoples fears on the Clinton's as being a divider of the country by claiming they are racists. Why not go a step further and use scare tactics on the working class.

10. Crony Capitalism is the real problem
I cannot fathom why Hillary supposedly appeals to working class Democrats and those who support the goals of economic justice.

She and Bill epitomizer the policies that have pulled the rug out from under the middle class and the poor.
