2008 Democratic Platform
In an ideal world what would you like to see in the Democratic Platform at the convention? I'm not asking what is politically viable but what would you like to see as the best progressive values of the party?

Here's a few of my proposals:

1. An immediate end to the war in Iraq.

2. An end of all federal death penalites.

3. Full GLBT equality including the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell and Defense of Marriage Act

4. Decriminalization of marijuana possession

5. Single payor universal health insurance

6. Reform of the drug laws to result in treatment rather than incarceration for all possession cases

Anyone else with other ideas?

1. Great pie in the sky platform
not gonna happen. I'm a realist. I just can't do fantasy, no matter how tempting if I know there's not a chance.

2. Some May Be More Idealistic Than Others
but I think an immediate end to war in Iraq, an end of all federal death penalties and progress on LGBT are within the realm of reality; I understand, however, that decriminalization of pot and single payor universal health care are not viable. But if we had Dennis K. as our nominee we would have an amazing platform! I personally believe all of the goals in my OP are realizable eventually if only we could better educate the electorate
