low post counts.
I have been an active reader of DU since the beginning. I do have low post counts, but I have given to DU every month for the last two years. Some seem to think that # of post counts make you a more real democrat. Put your money where your mouth is and support Democratic Underground by giving to them monthly. Put your money where your mouth is and support the candidates of your choice, local, state, and national. That is where the rubber hits the road. Invest in democracy give, so we can get over 8 years of Bush. Voting is important, but so is monetary support.

1. You're Absolutely Right. Too Many Here Knee Jerk To Post Count.
What I always tell them, is that every single one of us here, even the longest time members, at one point had our first post here. Were we any less liberal then?

13. Hi There!
I don't recognize you, but from your screenname and the fact you're here you're undoubtedly a woman I respect the hell out of (I have 2, and that's tough enough!).

And for what it's worth, I'm far more of a wiseass on here than I am in real life, and I think when push comes to shove you'd find that we agree on probably 95% of all things democratic. Unfortunately, it's generally the differences that become apparent, so oftentimes people will find themselves thinking they are more in conflict than they truly are. But at the end of the day, we generally all want the same things, care for people in the same ways, and know how important it is to beat the republicans.

So as we hit pause on that which is the constant flaming of GDP for a moment, let me extend my heartfelt welcomes and good wishes.

:toast:

2. Low post counts plus hidden profiles make me wary.
There are a lot of trolls and sock puppets. That's just the nature of online forums

3. i ran a thread on all the low count posts. it was a fun thread. i had the
opportunity to chat with nebies and welcome them, but more.... so many lurkers, people that have been a part of the site for so long, that we aren't even aware of.... that i dont even think about, have started posting now. i think it is cool

and i like what your daddy has to say. i am not too far from you, and started just a month before you, lol. thought that was nifty

BUT there really is a very very large number of low counts, unprecedented and though it is not right to point finger, i can understand the paranoia. then again, i really dont care about the reason a person is on du, or if they are disruptive, disagreeable or right as rain.... i just dont take things personally, i am curious about the reason

7. Troll!!!
:hi: Hello to another Texan. Check out the Texas forum on here.

I agree, there's too much knee jerking about low post counts. It's stupid, we all started out with 0 posts and worked our way up. I go by what's posted and not the post count.

14. Another one with a low post count...
Coming out of semi-lurkdom to say hello. :) Seriously, I registered in 2004, but have been more of an active lurker than poster. I'll try to post more as the next few months progress. Cheers!

15. Well I find we get an influx of new DU'ers during these times is due to a few reasons
1)"exciting politics" good or bad for your beliefs always brings out new people.

2)For the same reason as in #1 is why you will also get an influx of Trolls, disruptors etc

3)I think you also get lurkers posting a little more than what they would normally cause things are so "exciting" at those times.

I have seen too many of a time where someone has jumped to a conclusion whether it be about post count or something else, only to end up eating crow later on.

16. Longevity matters!
I think most are fed up with the newbies with low post counts, especially the huge numbers that signed up suddenly late last summer and fall. Its pretty obvious what was going on then.

25. I think it became an issue, when they didn't have a profile and are obnoxious.
Those are the one's that people were bitching about recently, including me.

They only come out during election time and they seem to be very conservative and/or combative.

Not all, mind you but there have been quite a few in recent weeks.

To the OP.... Glad you're here and all the other 'lurkers' that are now posting! :D

It's the trouble makers that were being referred to, imho, not just low count posters.

I've tried to make a point of welcoming all the newbies. ;)

26. Hi
:hi: it's sad to say but I've seen some of the people with high post counts attack people with low posts. Insulting names etc are directed at the so-called new people that I don't believe ever would be if they had a high post count. The reason...just because the "old timer" disagrees with who the other is supporting. I always alert on those who attack like that for no reason except obviously the victim has a low post count.
