Hillary isn't going to leave Iraq .... or Meet the new boss same as the old boss
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 08:31 PM by AtomicKitten
Where there's smoke there's fire. Every time ClintonCo accuses Obama of something, start looking because as per usual they are accusing him precisely of what she is doing: She isn't going to leave Iraq.

Clinton's Hawkishness Ruffles Feathers in Obama Camp
http://www.nysun.com/article/72209

If Senator Clinton can best Senator Obama in today's round of primaries and caucuses and go on to capture the White House, a co-author of the surge strategy in Iraq says he is convinced she would hold off on authorizing a large-scale immediate withdrawal of American soldiers from Iraq.

In a weekend interview, a retired four-star general, Jack Keane, said that when he briefed Mrs. Clinton in late 2006 and January 2007 on the counteroffensive strategy known as the surge, she "generally supported the surge strategy in the sense she wanted it to succeed but she was skeptical about its chances."

The Obama campaign yesterday seized on the general's comments after they appeared in an article on The New York Sun's Web site, with the chief spokesman, William Burton, issuing a statement saying: "Senator Clinton needs to explain to the American people what she said to the architect of George Bush's surge that made him think she wouldn't end the war."

Mr. Keane is in a position to know Mrs. Clinton, having worked informally with her since 2001, when he was vice chief of staff for the Army. Early last year, the Clinton team even asked the retired general to become a formal adviser to the campaign on military issues, a request Mr. Keane declined, as he has done when asked by other candidates.

"I have no doubts whatsoever that if she were president in January '09 she would not act irresponsibly and issue orders to conduct an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, regardless of the consequences, and squander the gains that have been made."

1. Iraq
Let's be fair, Obama hasn't exactly been Dennis or John E on the subject. The only thing we can do, is to keep the pressure on, to push both of them to the correct position, which is get out yesterday.

It took a leak from Ms. Power to find out about Obama's plan.

4. Ms. Powers was pressed to consider hypotheticals
and apparently BOTH candidates are cognizant of unforeseeable circumstances.

My point is that she is hammering him for what is precisely her position, except I have more faith in Obama getting out of Iraq than I do Hillary.

She and Bill won't release their tax forms so we can take a good look at their share of the Military Industrial Complex gravy train.

I was stunned to hear Bill appeared on Limbaugh's show the day before Texas/Ohio knowing that Limbaugh had put out the rallying cry to his dittohead minions to vote for Hillary to keep her in the face. Wow. It's almost like they are in cahoots ...

19. She Would Withdraw Them Responsibly, And With A Plan. That's All This Is Saying.
I don't see anything objectionable here. It seems like she made it clear to him that safety would be priority and that things would be done in a strategical way, as she's said to us. This is in contrast to Dennis Kucinich's irrational type now now now rhetoric. But there's nothing you posted that makes it sound like she wants us to be there indefinitely, and shame on Obama using those dirty tactics to try and accuse her of being disingenuous, based on second hand info with very little substance. Seriously, you all railroad Hillary every day for her supposed dirty tactics, yet think Obama is Mr. Friggin Clean. Well, making deceitful allegations that she's lying somehow or is being disingenuous, based on hearsay and flimsy substance, is pretty dirty and disrespectful, to tell ya the truth. It's called feigned outrage, and in this case it's weak.

40. Obama has talked out of both sides of his mouth on the issue
He attacked Clinton for saying the very same thing Powers said in the interview that got her kicked off the team.

When Clinton said she has to see what is on the ground and going on in Iraq before withdrawing troops, but that she would start withdrawing troops within 60 days--safely. Then, she said she would leave some to take care of Al Queda. Of course Obama pounced on that saying she wanted to remain in Iraq. And then, suddenly, when questioned, Obama said the same thing he has been attacking Clinton on.

And: I am sad, because DU has been taken over by people who don't care about the truth. They will sink to any depths to get their guy elected, no matter how untrue it is, and no matter how ugly the lies and distortions are.

I am sad. Democracy spins down the toilet while you lie and distort.

If anyone has played politics with war, it is Obama who when he had the power to do something as a Senator--stood mute in an effort to keep any boats from rocking.

He DID NOTHING. And claims that he was against the war. He has no actions and only empty words.

"lying hypocrite." When? Where? what did she say that was anymore a lie than anything Obama has said?
