Can someone please Vet Obama?I noticed in the first day of the Rezco trial
that Rezco had people assigned to a board overseeing the construction of hospitals.
Looking at Obamas website I notice his earmarks include a few earmarks for new hospital construction.
Is this part of the Rezko payoff?

3. I love hope.I hate liars and FALSE HOPE.Especially if they want the nomination
and are bound to be unelectable .The Dem candidate cannot be allowed to self destruct during the GE.
Its bad enough that he has Iraqi connections. That he may have taken a donation from a foreign corporation of Iraqi origin.
Otherwise I do like Obama.
I just dont trust him after he deceived me into almost supporting him because I admired that he takes no lobby or PAC money.
When I found he was lying and deceives his supporters into thinking hes not influenced by big business,I am on a vendetta for truth.

9. According to the Chicago Tribune
Obama wrote letters of support for Rezko, and a result Rezko netted
a lucrative housing contract.

25. As were Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan
Meanwhile, Ford and Poppy Bush were big-time experienced. So, where is the advantage or disadvantage? It boils down to the person. Myself, I think a new metric has emerged. How does the candidate run their campaign? In this case, it is a hands-down endorsement of Obama. The race was Hillary's. Sewn up. And she lost focus and lost control.

23. Assuming that the temperature in Hell takes a strong dip...
and Hillary becomes the nominee... what are you going to do when McCain crushes Hillary with the experience argument. Her running as a 7th year Senator won't allow her to use the experience argument against McCain. Most GE voters won't view being first lady as experience... Only Hillery supporters count that.

In return Obama "helped" ;) get $14 million for Rezko's projects, including 855k directly for Rezko and Obama's former boss, who was now a partner with Rezko's firm. http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/425305,CST-NWS-obama13.article

13. I have mixed feelings about Fitzgerald...
but I don't think he'd play that game.

There's two big assumptions here: Obama's directly connected, and there's a political conspiracy that's either covering for Obama or waiting for the right political moment. Dunno. Bush corrupted the courts pretty badly, but this venue is relatively less corrupted than others.

I think there's a shitstorm waiting in the wings for either of our nominees.

Here's a little tidbit I missed about one of Barack Obama's travelling companions.
Description: Eric Whitaker.
Published: March 10, 2008

The London Times wrote in part last week, "At Mr Obama's Westerville (Ohio) rally, Eric Whitaker, a member of his coterie of friends travelling with him..."

And yesterday the Chicago Sun-Times wrote in part, "Two other friends are sometimes on the Obama plane: Eric Whitaker, executive vice president of the University of Chicago Medical Center..."

Well, Eric was hired by that very profitable not-for-profit hospital just last September 17, 2007.

Which means, he's already built up a lot of vacation time, is taking a lot of unpaid days off, or the hospital is providing an illegal corporate contribution to a federal election campaign by paying him to accompany the husband (Barack Obama) of one of their highly paid vice-presidents (Michelle Obama).

Before joining the not-for-profit University of Chicago Medical Center (profits FY07=$143,150,000, profits first six months of FY08=$118,724,000), Eric was part of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's administration, which many impartial observers have tagged as the most unethical if not the most corrupt administration in the history of Illinois.

Eric served the Governor as Director of Public Health.

This is an administration that in the area of healthcare has become a laughingstock.

Clout in 21st century Illinois
by George Dienhart

According to a Sun Times piece by Chris Fusco, It only took 10 minutes for Gov. Blagojevich’s name to surface in the Tony Rezko trial. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carrie Hamilton told jurors that Rezko was a key Blagojevich political fund-raiser in 2002. She added that Rezko was active in a nascent gubernatorial office when he "gave names of people” that he felt should be given key positions in Blagojevich’s administration. She added, "The administration took his recommendations very seriously," eventually appointing many of the people Rezko had recommended to seats on various state boards and commissions.” In other words, it was politics as usual in Illinois.

I seem to remember a certain Illinois politician calling for change. He wished to become Chief Executive, following a very unpopular public official. The press lauded him as a breath of fresh air. Democrats embraced him as the face of 21st century politics. Voters felt he was charismatic, and might one day run for President of the United States. His name was Rod Blagojevich, and the parallels to Barrack Obama are startling.

The most startling similarity is the alleged close ties to Tony Rezko. Neither Blagojevich nor Obama have been accused of breaking the law, but curiously, Rezko is always in the background. He is constantly lurking in the shadows, ready to dispense with advice (Hey governor, I know just the guy for that job…) or to help broker a mortgage deal (I might know someone that is interested in that empty lot, senator). It is what Mike Royko used to call Clout. For the past few years, Tony Rezko was amassing as much clout as anyone. Whether it was potential future U.S. Presidents in Obama and Blagojevich, or in the form of other businessmen with political connections, Tony Rezko’s rolodex was enviable. His alleged connections include:

Stuart Levine- the Highland Park lawyer that proved that Rezko gave equal time to Republicans. He and Rezko allegedly conspired to force movie producer and investor Tom Rosenberg to pay a $2 million kickback to them or a $1.5 million campaign donation to Blagojevich. If Levine would not play ball they told him he would lose $220 million of business with the state.
William Cellini- Levine’s buddy is also alleged to have committed a faux pas concerning teacher’s union pensions. If true, he is another embarrassment to the Republican Party.
Chris Kelly- One of Blagojevich’s closest advisors, according to the Tribune, is referred to as Co-schemer B in the Rezko case. His role as chief Blagojevich fundraiser must have “Public Official A” extremely nervous.
Joseph Aramanda- A pizza magnate that gave the Barrack for Illinois PAC $10,500.00. That is a lot of Pizza…
Joseph Cari- He sounds familiar, right? Turns out, he was Al Gores National Finance Chair in 2000. He has already pleaded guilty, and will be a witness for the prosecution. He was accused of trying to set up a fake consultancy to facilitate kickbacks.
Jacob Kieferbaum- a construction company executive alleged to have solicited bribes in connection with the proposed Mercy Hospital in Crystal Lake. The kickback would be delivered by having Mercy Hospital hire Kieferbaum Construction, which would inflate its rates thereby hiding the kickback. Jacob Kieferbaum pleaded guilty. It seems this was such a good idea that they decided to try it a second time on Edward Hospital in Naperville. In Naperville, hospital executives alerted federal authorities. I guess it was not such a good idea after all…
This list made Rezko a powerful man with much influence. In fact, he had become so influential that he is alleged to feel confident enough to use his clout with the Blagojevich administration to staff important state boards with people he could control. This included the Teachers Retirement System, which invests teacher’s pension money. He also had influence with the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board. This put him in position to gain from both the teacher’s retirement investments and the building of a hospital in Crystal Lake.

Rezko’s associates were clearly powerful men. All of whom can now allegedly be linked to our two favorite agents of change. Barrack Obama and Rod Blagojevich. This is not about politics- this is about corruption. Corruption that is rooted deep within both parties’s and seemingly touches the top level of politicians in the Illinois Democratic Party. One must admit that both Obama and Blagojevich knew Tony Rezko. Why would these two upstanding Democrats sully their reputations by associating themselves with someone allegedly as dirty as Tony Rezko? That's one question still needs to be answered.

20. Here:

Not much about Obama at Ill. fraud trial

By MIKE ROBINSON, Associated Press Writer Fri Mar 7, 7:05 PM ET

CHICAGO - Two things already are clear in the $7 million federal fraud trial of a fundraiser for some of presidential hopeful Barack Obama's earlier political campaigns.

The fraud, attempted extortion and money laundering charges against businessman Antoin "Tony" Rezko have little if anything to do with Obama. But they have a lot to do with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and allegations of an influence-peddling scheme within his inner circle.

Even so, as a presidential contender, Obama was guaranteed to feel the heat when a longtime friend and supporter went on trial in a political scandal.

Neither Obama nor Blagojevich are accused of wrongdoing in the trial, which began with opening statements Thursday and took a break Friday. But Obama's Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton has raised questions about his long ties to Rezko, and if the Illinois senator wins the nomination Republicans are likely to do the same.

"I think the national and international press have repeatedly done a calculation that says Rezko gave to Obama, Rezko was indicted, hence Obama is implicated, and that's a false calculation," says Cindi Canary, head of the nonpartisan, foundation-funded Illinois Campaign for Political Reform.

"This trial is about allegations of improper influence in the Blagojevich administration," she says.

Rezko has nothing to do with Obama, and his trial can't help her campaign.

24. Attention Obama supporters. The time has come
to go to the vaults and start posting every scandalous piece of trash out there about the Clintons. We've been reserved - after all, there is the chance she'll be the nominee and we've been conscious of that (unlike Hillary herself re Obama). But this morning I'm seeing post after post after post after post about Rezko, their only hope of digging dirt on Obama. The Hillary supporters have short memories. There are not just a few Clinton stories, there is a tome full of them. There are separate chapters - Bimbo Eruptions, Dubai, Whitewater, Dirty Campaign Money, Chappequa Home Financing, Presidential Pardons, etc. There are web sites devoted to them. The Republicans are sitting on the sidelines licking their chops. To the vaults!
