Hillary is playing the last card in the deck - Unity
With her response to the question this week as to whether she might consider a joint ticket ("yes"), as well as #42's comment that such a ticket would be "unbeatable", it looks like the Clinton's have finally plugged the numbers into a calculator and seen the truth. It's over, in any reasonable sense. So they have offered up to the media and the public what, in their minds, appears to be a gracious, unifying gesture: the Dream Ticket. Only in this dream, the one who just happens to get the top bunk is Hillary.

The media is having a field day. There are polls, roundtables, columns, and talking heads burbling happily like two year olds with a new toy at the prospect.

The Clintons can only be thinking at this moment that either they can fool enough voters into believing they can get a 'two-fer' with a vote for her, or that Dean and the DNC will pressure Obama into a forced marriage just to put an end to the catfight. It is important that voters see through this desperate tactic, and that Obama refuses to take the bait. When he becomes the nominee, he will do what should be done - choose a running mate with the best possible qualifications and experience to appeal to the widest possible cross section of voters in the general election.

It's time to wake up, Hillary. You were having a bad dream.

18. she would be a monstrous anchor to his work.
she's already proved she cannot be trusted - who the Hell would want her in their admin? not only is she a divisive liar, but not very bright, afterall the hype about her intelligence. A month or so ago I would never have entertained the thought that Hillay was less than brilliant - but I have major doubts now - she is showing how slow witted and downright stupid she really is.

23. she's just not with it and how the internet has changed politics.
she is relying on the old school way - the Bush way - that has worked so well in the past. Keep the public in the dark like good little mushrooms, feed them shit and hope they grow up to slice them up and add to a nice dish the Washington elite can gobble down.

Thanks to the net the many huge errors in judgement (or political sashaying) she has made are out there for all who are interested to examine and is making a difference. Blogs and forums are quick on the uptake to confront her and her lies and inconsistencies and are making an impact.

3. Let us see what the rest of the week brings
I think we may see a lot of evolution in the Hillary camp, and a lot of reality based rhetoric.

I think there is a meme developing about how HRC's run is all about saving the DLC now.
Bonne Chance, DLC. I suspect at this very moment, the DLC's ski tips are clearing that big white dorsal fin.

5. And why would she be top candidate? She's LOSING!
This is a way for Hillary to hold the election hostage. Translated, she is saying: "Obama, if you concede and allow me to be the presidential candidate, I'll make you my running mate and we'll win. But if you insist on continuing your campaign with your silly little voter majority behind you, I will dog you all the way, even though I can't win by the numbers. I might even steal the nomination with super delegates and ruin the Democratic Party's chance to win. So, you either run with me, or I hand the election to McCain."

Thank you, Hillary. Now I see this election for what it is: Democratic Party establishment vs. the Progressive community. The Elite control of government vs. popular democracy.

that McLame has the necessary experience and Obama has only a speech from 2002.

22. Great original post !!
Luckily, based on these Obama quotes from a recent speech :

“I do not believe Sen. Clinton is about change. . . . This guide of gamesmanship. . . is the kind of Washington doublespeak and doubletalk that will not solve the problems of this country.”

“Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain represent the conventional wisdom in Washington….”

... it looks like Obama's not falling for the bait, and will definitely NOT add her as his VP ( shudders ). Of course then the media will play it up as him being a poor sport, or hurting the Dem's chances, etc. They really want Hillary in there badly. If Hillary insists on dividing the party on to PA and beyond, I'd LOVE for Obama to announce his VP choice within the next month ( Edwards, Richardson ... ). After all this Clinton talk of late about being open to the idea of Barack as HER VP ( har har ), it would be just about perfect!

25. I'll work my ass off for that ticket !
Granted my ass needs to be worked off anyway, but still ... that's the Dream ticket waiting to happen.

Edwards curious silence these past few months makes me think something is brewing. That month leading up to PA makes me think some big Obama endorsements ( announcements ) are brewing ! Let's hope.
