17. For Prez? I have no idea.
For the Senate, he's supporting the people of Minnesota, and that's what counts!

20. As a professional comedian first, I suspect he has a soft spot for McCain.
"President McCain" would be job security for any humorist with a pulse.

8. Al Franken
Were they having a runoff because Franken didn't get 50% of the primary vote?

16. County conventions next weekend
then regionals, and then the Caucus in June. Makes my head spin. Glad to see we should have a reasonably clear slate to do party bidness on Saturday and there on out.

with a binding ballot to determine how the the delegates to the national convnetion will be alloted. We are currently in the process of holding (state) Sentate District and County Unit convnetions where delegates to the Congressional District and State conventions are elected. It is as the State Convention in June that the party endorsement for Senate will be decided.

Minnesota does have a primary in early September, but the two main candidates (Franken and Nelson-Pallmeyer) remaining in the Senate race have both promised to abide by the party endorsement and not take it to the primary.

“In my judgment, continuing the endorsement race would only lead to an unnecessary floor fight,” Ciresi said. “It is time to step aside.”

Ciresi thanked his supporters and campaign staff, reiterated his stance of local and national issues and said he will continue to work in his private life toward the “the common good of our state and nation.”

22. Many MN are for Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer the True Progressive
I know many people around the country are excited about Al Franken, and he is a great guy and has raised a lot of money for DFL candidates.. but he is more of a moderate Democrat. He said he believe would have supported invading Iraq. Although he said he was for bring home the troops he hasn't said he would close all the bases. He is for Universal Healthcare not "single payer" healthcare. and at a debate a couple months ago when asked if Iran threated to attack Israel, would he bomb Iran and Franken said yes.
http://www.jackforsenate.org/
Jack has a strong backing in the twin cities, but we can't compete with Hollywood donations.

Jack has dedicated his life to Peace and Justice and is what we need in the Senate. He worked closely with Wellstone and helped on his bills.
Jack's experience and skills would help in resolving the conflict in Iraq and other countries.

At this point any dem could beat Coleman. Coleman only won because Wellstone was killed. I know many would like to see Franken in office, but what we need is Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer
