15. Isn't funny how they get to have it both ways?
If you support Obama, they call you a sexist, but aren't they doing the same thing?

There is a reason she has so many woman voters. And it's not just her stance on the issues.

59. Huh?
Obama gets 90+% of the African-American vote, and nobody blinks.

But if anyone suggests women *might* want to give Clinton another look, then its'

GOD HELP US! HILLARY THINKS WOMEN SHOULD VOTE FOR HER JUST BECAUSE SHE'S A WOMAN!!!

The double standard is oh, so clear.

Sexism? Eh, whatever. Boys will be boys 'n all that...

Racism? You goin' straight to hell!! Bill's a racist! Hillary played the race card!! Fire!! Fire!! Fire!!

I didn't truly start hating Clinton until she proved she was willing to tear down anything and anyone to get her coronation. Before that it was merely a question of candidates.

She chose this route, BTW. You can't get into the mud and not expect to get very dirty.

9. Me? I don't like either of them and their supporters have made it
worse. I have focused what energy (basically money) I have on local grassroots candidates. I gave up hoping for true representation on a national level this time around. They're the same person and equal more of the same. I am sorry Obama/Clinton supporters, your candidate doesn't "do it" for me. Neither one is a breath of fresh air, neither one speaks "change" to my head and heart. I'll stick with the little Dems and hope, a few years from now, progressive will finally reach the upper levels. Thank you.

...in my precinct. Our new Edwards group passed the Clintonites by one vote in round two, but the Obama crew was untouchable by a large margin. Yet Hillary took Nevada. Ce la vie.

Anyhoo, isn't it lovely how both Edwards and Kucinich have pretty much dropped off the face of the Earth (at least as far as the US MSM is concerned)? :(

11. I like em both..
But I wouldn't want to have beer with Hillary - I'd rather have beer with Will Pitt.

I'll just nod and acknowledge Hillary, that's all. I don't hate her, I just dislike her behavior - it's like having a friend who has a very very bad temper and you're just distancing yourself from one.

Anecdote here:

I have not seen this friend for move than 20 years, and suddenly she appeared in an invitation to a club for drinks and dancing. I contacted her because we were good friends, but I have certain things from her that is permanently marked in my life (a scar on my face, for one - she had incredibly bad temper). So I met with her (with wife present, of course) in a public place. We talked for about 3 minutes, then I walked away. Later I hear from a friend who also organized this party that she stole her car keys and nearly got into a fight with a couple of men. I knew at this point that I am distancing myself from her.

This is the same way. I met Bill Clinton, and I like him very much, but now I am distancing myself with him and his wife.

she's hired a couple of sleazebags, got caught flatfooted by Obama's campaign, and is running in a way that, if it gets her the nomination, will hurt hurt her in the general election (and if she doesn't, will hurt Obama).

But I don't hate her at all.

and that he 'could' be transformational regarding foreign policy.

I guess I 'like' him, but overall, considering the Cat. 5 shit-storm coming our way, I am kind of disconnected. Whoever wins will face disaster, and there will be little they can do, except 'cheer-lead', which is another plus with Obama.

Because, when it comes to leadership, in crises, the delivery of words does matter.

We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I can say: It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival. Let that be realised; no survival for the British Empire, no survival for all that the British Empire has stood for, no survival for the urge and impulse of the ages, that mankind will move forward towards its goal. But I take up my task with buoyancy and hope. I feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men. At this time I feel entitled to claim the aid of all, and I say, "come then, let us go forward together with our united strength.

Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 09:24 PM by Kittycat
I never felt the need to uplift the Clinton's for their many mistakes. Their carelessness cost us the house, then the whitehouse. They've also thrown candidates under the bus since their leaving, and the result contributed to the clusterfuck this country is in. Not to mention everything good they did do, was nearly all undone in a matter of a couple years.

When it came time to look at my presidential candidate options, Clinton immediately went to the bottom of the list. I dare not even imagine what skeletons are hiding on the library donor list or their other "business dealings" that they've kept from the public. I just don't think this country can handle any more Clinton trauma. We'd be likely to lose it all for another 8 years.

ETA: and the past couple weeks have only proven my decision to be the right one. She doesn't represent the Dem party, she represents herself, and there in lies the Clinton problem.

...I also think that Obama is exactly the right person we need to build the party of the 21st century, to lay the foundation for future, better, democratic presidents to come.

I was an Edwards supporter in the beginning, but I have to tell you that the more I think about it, the more I don't think the country is ready for and Edwards presidency, assuming he was true to his word on the campaign trail. I see Obama as the right person to help shift the cultural climate in America and pave the way back toward a more "liberal" culture.

I've met her, and she's a very engaging person.

Having said that, her campaign is the reason that I'm supporting Obama.

For a Democrat, she either has the worst political tin ear ever, or she has no regard whatsoever for party unity and political etiquette and tradition.

I supported neither Obama nor Clinton until last week. Her remarks as regards John McCain sealed it for me.

I'm not throwing my support to a politician who can't see fit to support her own party.

I sort of met her a few years ago and didn't get a great vibe. Her aide was pushing people away who didn't have a book for her to sign. I wanted her to sign my YDA badge but her aide said she would only sign books. I waited and waited to get a picture but she left when there were just a few of us left...I know she couldn't stay forever but there were just a few of us left and she could have taken the time. I managed to get into a picture with her but she wasn't looking at the camera.

Not holding this against her, but I'm glad you had a better experience.

69. Now, or before she started acting like a totally scummy shithead?
A year ago, I thought the top 3 were all bad candidates. I started warming to them all in the fall, cooler toward clinton and edwards due to IWR (although Edwards' recanting on that vote was a bonus for him) Now I am disgusted with Clinton.

72. I started out liking Hillary and was excited to think of a woman president

and did not even pay any attention to Obama until New Hampshire.. I barely even knew who he was, and had never seen anything but the snippets of video on tv.

When she started the teary, poor-little me, and immediately launched into an attack on him..and then the media only showed the teary part, I started paying closer attention.. The debates? I am never home on Tuesdays, so I missed most of them, and watched them onliine.

More and more I saw a pattern developing, and after BC's comments in SC, I could NEVER support her again..

I saw Obama carefully treading on race and sex & age, and trying to focus on ideas, and all I saw from her camp was insinuations, innuendos, race-baiting and MPD off-the-wall attacks.. Even through all that I saw a calmness and intelligence in Obama's demeanor. She could not get him to "engage" with her relentless attacks.

That's when I started to admire the way he handled himself..

SHE turned me off to her.. and HE won me over because he's acting like an intelligent adult, and she's acting like a petulant child..

She reminds me of Nellie Olson

73. I don't like either of them
I think Clinton would make the better President competence-wise, but policy-wise, both suck.
