Spitzer Scandal Helps Obama
Spitzer's scandal serves as a reminder of the chance the Dems will be taking by putting Bill Clinton back into the White House. Like it or not, Bill's legacy is that of a womanizer, and Hillary's presidency will become hostage to any new sex scandal.

So, to the Dems in PA, take a good look at the Spitzer scandal in NY. Do you want that for a Democratic president?

89. This has nothing to do with Obama, but it will make soft Clinton voters and undecided think twice
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 12:08 PM by Dems Will Win
before putting Bill back in there. What if Hillary can't make Bill keep his pants zipped for 8 years and they are blackmailed or she is caught lying about the affair and then she is saying "he did not have sex with that woman"?

Plus Bill had affairs in 2002 that were already reported in the NY Post, The NY Daily News, The Scotsman, the Toronto Star, and on CNN Inside Politics. The MSM is just waiting to drop this on Hillary if she gets the nomination:

LISA BELZBERG

According to Huffington Post, Bill Robinson, the NY Times and the LA Times are sitting on a "Big Clinton Story" that involves his affairs since leaving the White House. Clearly a lot of Indie and other voters would not want to put Bill back in there to cheat again on national TV, just too plain old embarassing.

A Big Clinton Story

Look, I am concerned. I've just spent two weeks travelling and speaking with media elites in L.A., Chicago, NYC, and D.C. and among other things, I was repeatedly told that The New York Times and The L.A. Times are "sitting on a BIG Clinton story." What concerns me is that this story has nothing to do with Hillary, her policy positions, her record, or her presidential potential. The "big story" everyone is sitting on apparently has to do with the many current affairs of Bill Clinton, whom, they will allege, has a gal in every port.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bill-robinson/the-big-clinton-story_b_74391.html

With unfaves in the high 40s or low 50s, a few more points of voters who, if given the choice, don't want to put a philandering Bill Clinton back in the White House to humiliate the office.

The result is Hillary would be a weak nominee and may not be able to win nationally with such a headwind. The newspapers are sitting on these alleged affairs, already reported in the press, perhaps until after the primaries and hoping to kill the Democrat's chances? This is from April 2002 and seems to be what the HuffPo was speaking of:

Clinton linked with wealthy socialite

THE tangled love life of Bill Clinton was again under the microscope yesterday when he was romantically linked with a glamorous blonde.

A magazine photo showed the former president of the United States in an intimate pose with the Canadian socialite Lisa Belzberg, 38.

They were photographed by Newsweek in front of a refrigerator at her mansion in Katonah, New York. It rekindled long-standing speculation about the pair, who have been spotted together at a number of functions over the past year.

According to the New York Post, Ms Belzberg, a millionairess separated from her husband, the Seagram alcohol heir Matthew Bronfman, about a month ago following a liaison with Mr Clinton.

...

"Friends were stunned to see the photo of Clinton in front of Lisa’s stainless steel Sub-Zero refrigerator with Jonathan Alter’s cover story on the ex-president," the paper reported. The article claimed Mr Clinton and Ms Belzberg were involved in an encounter last month.

"She was seen flirting with Clinton at the Super Bowl party he hosted in his Harlem offices," it added. At the time Mr Clinton joked of his relationship with Ms Belzberg: "She married a guy worth $6 billion, but she still likes to flirt with me."

A spokeswoman for Ms Belzberg, who runs the educational organisation PENCIL , insisted that she has not been involved in another relationship since her split from Mr Bronfman. "There is no-one else," she said bluntly.

http://news.scotsman.com/billclinton/Clinton-linked-with-wealthy-socialite.2317821.jp

According to 6/12/02 Page Six of the New York Post: WHATEVER there was between Lisa Belzberg and Bill Clinton, it appears to be over. Belzberg, the brainy blonde behind the PENCIL nonprofit group that helps the public school system, was rumored to be more than friends with the former president, who lives just 10 minutes away from the mother of two in Westchester. "She's heartbroken," said one source. But there is little chance of reconciliation with her husband, Matthew Bronfman. The Seagram heir, who split with Lisa in February, is said to be very happily dating a fashion industry executive, Stacy Kaye.

Inside Politics 6/13/02: "The New York Post reported yesterday that the relationship between former President Bill Clinton and Lisa Belzberg 'appears to be over.' If we do the math, that means that Mr. Clinton and the pretty blonde socialite lasted seven weeks. "Tabloid rumors of a romance between the two appeared around April 23, claiming the pair met at a Christmas party last year. Mr. Clinton behaved like 'a big old hound dog' and later, trysts reportedly took place in mid-afternoons on the 24th floor of New York's chichi Hudson Hotel."

Clinton seen with new blonde

BELINDA STRONACH

Mark Coleman In New York

BILL Clinton’s chequered love life became the source of fresh speculation yesterday after he was spotted with yet another blonde.

The former US president is reported to have shared an intimate dinner with Belinda Stronach, a married business woman.

According to reports, Mr Clinton, 56, wined and dined Ms Stronach, 35, the head of an international car parts company, in Toronto.

The pair have apparently struck up a cosy friendship and were caught embracing at the end of the evening.

"Clinton gave her a peck on the cheek before she got into her car," the New York Post reported. Another tabloid, the Daily News, pronounced that the two "had dinner and were seen embracing before they parted".

The papers said that the couple appeared to be fairly close, exchanging fond glances as they walked around the city.

Mr Clinton, who was in Toronto for a party honouring the musician Ronnie Hawkins, who has been diagnosed with cancer, twitched awkwardly with his mobile phone after realising that he and Ms Stronach, who was wearing a black dress and diamond necklace, were being followed by photographers.

The revelations are bound to renew consternation between Mr Clinton and his wife Hillary, to whom he has been married for 26 years.

Four months ago Mr Clinton was linked with another blonde socialite, Lisa Belzberg, 38, who is also a Canadian.

There is nothing Obama can do or say...it would be completely tacky for him to weigh in on this unless he is asked. His supporters on DU who are trying to connect it to Clinton are off the mark...she had nothing to do with this.

That being said, I am not terribly upset that CNN happens to be showing footage of Bill Clinton saying "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" the night before the Mississippi primary.

91. You shouldn't be voting at all.
Democracy is premised (falsely) on the idea of educated voters.

Since your vote is obviously decided by something so rediculous as how many meanies are on messages boards for any given candidate, you should just stay home come election day.

You seem to lack the requisite credentials to cast a vote, which is unfortunate because they are fairly low to begin with.

50. Or Jim McGreevy in New Jersey
Again, this is why it helps Obama. It shows that some men cannot control themselves sexually. See Bill Clinton!

Not everything has to have an effect on the elections.

Jeez.

And it's fair game. Obama should use his subordinates to start a whispering campaign.

53. Your Candidate Is The One With The "Kitchen Sink" Strategy
Your candidate is the one who openly endorsed McCain. Your candidate is the one claiming that Obama is resorting to Ken Starr tactics.

What's the matter? Cannot take it when the "Kitchen Sink" gets thrown right back at you.

58. Is everybody suuurrrrrrrrrre that BO doesn't have a bimbo eruption awaiting?
He's a nice-looking, very charismatic guy with at least an average libido, and my long life-experience tells me that women undoubtedly throw themselves at him every day.

Are we sure he always says, "No"?

Shouldn't we find out what the truth is before it's too late -- before a sudden bimbo eruption ruins his image as a family man?

Maybe we could get some new version of Richard Mellon Sciafe to finance a several-million-dollar "Illinois Project" to see if a woman -- any woman, no matter how skanky -- can be found who will claim to have been intimate with BO.

Them's the rules Clinton has to play by. Why shouldn't Obama play by the same?

75. Hmm, how do you know about his libido?
And in case you didn't know, that crap has been thrown at Obama, but it didn't stick and the guy was obviously lying. Bill has a real problem. Not saying we should focus on it, but Bill's sexual addiction is hardly news.

65. This post is unfair to Hillary
She should be judged on her own merits, not those of her husband. The fact that he is a womanizer who couldn't control himself as president, and who would probably have a much harder time controlling himself with Hillary busy being president is completely irrelevant to this campaign.

68. Huh? Dude.. one thing has nothing to do with the other.
Not to mention the fact that Bill Clinton is not running for president. According to Kitty Kelly's book, Nancy Reagan was a slut, what did that have to do with Ronnie's failed presidency? Nothing. Really, this is a cheap shot that does no one any good.

85. The OP Happens To Be Correct - Your Getting Personal Won't Change The Facts...
The longer this drags out, the more times you'll see old footage of a defiant Bill Clinton wagging his finger saying "I did not have sexual relations with that woman...". That's the reality. It's baggage that HRC, fair or not, is stuck with.

92. Then how do you explain Rush and his cohorts urging 'pukes
to get out the vote for Hillary? According to one source, they accounted for 8 - 9% of her Texas vote. I have yet to hear one talking head comment that Republicans want to run against Obama over Hillary. They always say the opposite. They want Hillary.
