Disgusting sexism on O'Reilly
Don't ask why I decided to turn on this crap, but CNN was in commercials and MSNBC is doing some crap show, so I wandered over to Faux, and listening for two minutes made me sick.

They are doing a segment on whether or not we are ready for a woman president, and expressing concerns about PMS. Then one of the guests (Mark Rudov) says it's ok to have a woman president as long as she is qualified and doesn't have a "female agenda". Says she needs executive experience...nevermind that none of the remaining candidates have it.

None of this changes my support for Obama, but it is pretty sickening. I think Hillary's gender has helped her more than it has hurt her (based on the exit polls), but I don't disagree with those Clinton supporters who say that sexism is alive and well.

Faux News is vile and disgusting and I don't want to see ANY Obama supporters here sounding like this. I was pretty appalled earlier today when a fellow Obama supporter talked about PMS impairing Clinton's judgment as president.

3. According to exit polls in Ohio

Those who said gender was a factor voted for Clinton.

Those who said race was a factor also voted for Clinton.

That being said, I definitely think both Clinton and Obama have some unique obstacles because of race and gender. They both have the onus of avoiding certain stereotypes (angry black man, woman with PMS, weak on defense because of gender, etc) and it is sickening when people at DU in either camp sound like O'Reilly.

2. Well, damn, what a well-thought-out and reasonable post, and who'd have thought
we would see such a thing here in GD-P.

No sarcasm here whatsoever. That was a damn good post.

Then she's got hot flashes. Whatever. Sexists always have a way
to discount women as being too emotional and hormone (or lack of hormone) driven.
