Is the Clinton Team Stark Raving Mad?

http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/#79313

For the life of me I just don’t understand the thinking inside the Clinton campaign (and insided the heads of surrogates). Strong supporters of Clinton — please clue me in; I don’t know how the following developments make any sense in terms of political strategy that’s helpful to the candidate:

* Bill and Hillary continuing to promote the idea of a Clinton/Obama ticket with her at the top when she’s behind in delegate count;

* Promoting the idea of Obama as VP after spending time and money on ads to convince voters he’s not ready to answer the 3 AM phone call - why would she want someone she’s declared unqualified on the ticket?

* The assertion by Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson that somehow Obama could cross the imaginary 3AM-ready “threshhold” that Hillary has by the convention and thus be qualified for the VP slot.

1. Good article! John Edwards dropped out after losing 3 in a row, Hillary lost 11 in a row

2. Propaganda
They hope to excel at manipulating reality. Red = blue, up = down, peace = war, 2nd place = 1st place, losing = winning.

5. The Clintons rule by intimidation and threats...
Her financial backers, her corporate buddies and even those in the media, don't
want to upset the girl-queen. They don't want to be the ones to bring reality
to someone who might threaten to destroy them.

She's in denial. She's spent years, probably decades, with her eyes on this
Presidential prize. She can't let it to, and she oscillates between anger and
sadness. We see this in her attack/victim campaign cycle. One minute she's
insult-spewing Hillary; the next she's subdued, wistful Hillary (tears optional).

It's so over for her.

I worried last week that somehow her dirty tricks might work somehow. There's just
no way. Obama will have more delegates, states and popular vote. More importantly,
this dysfunctional campaigning is obnoxious and silly. America is breaking for
Obama, and this is now reflected in the national polls. He's moved up seven points
in the last few days.

Hillary's campaign is on life support--and it's time to turn off the machine. Hillary
won't do it herself, but it looks like the voters will flip that switch and end it for
her.

6. It's positive thinking, not madness.
She knows that she must continue acting like a winner if she hopes to turn defeat into victory.

She's right, too, at least this far: if she admits, even for a moment, that she's behind, she guarantees further big losses.

8. Yup, true as far as it goes. But Hillary looks more like someone going to a faith healer...

Great comeback! :applause:

7. Think of it as on-the-job training
VP Obama gets to ride with training wheels and a seatbelt for 8 years, then maybe he'll be ready for prime-time in 2016.

11. She knows this is her one and only shot
at the presidency. If Obama has his 8 years, then his VP takes the reins. For her, it is definitely now or never. Can you imagine working and scheming for something all your life, to finally realize those dreams unrealized?
