WIth all the uproar about Spitzer and about Hillary offering Obama the VP position (and then
denying she made the offer)did anyone else notice that Obama was in Mississippi yesterday calling for the end of Don't Ask, Don't Tell? He pointed out that given a choice between having all straights in the group and one gay who just happens to speak Arabic, suddenly the straight soldiers get awful tolerant! He also pointed out that if anyone is patriotic enough to sign up for the service, why should any of us give a damn about their gender orientation!

I'm certain that some will criticize him and me for not meeting the highest standards of political correctness in the way this is expressed, but can he get partial credit for being on the right track?

1. He's been calling for it for a while.
I saw a townhall what must have been a good month back, where someone asked him about it. He was straightforward, right out of the gate... I wold repeal it immediately. It only harms our position to have it in place, and just doesn't make sense. etc, etc.

2. It sounded like it has been worked into the standard stump speech.
I think Hillary is also calling for an end to Don't Ask, Don't Tell, but somehow I wouldn't expect her to follow through. I expect Obama would because he will have people supporting him on this.
