12. Antidote to stolen signs.
Spray the edges of your signs with a hot pepper concentrate. Something about 500,000 Scovill units or better.

Believe me, they'll never touch a sign again. Especially if they go to the bathroom, or pick their nose before washing their hands.

24. If you move it, wear gloves.
In '06 we had a problem with repukes stealing campaign signs. Especially the larger ones. I started spraying them down (spray a thin layer of Pam on first-makes it more soluble).

A couple of weeks later I was driving through the country for a lunch meeting, and saw a guy trying to knock one down with a hoe. He wouldn't touch it. I just started laughing and kept on driving.

Our signs quit disappearing.

22. Remember the Sign Wars of 2004...
... here in Cincinnat, aka Lower Wingnuttia?

Some neighborhoods just got brutal. Each yard peppered with signs of their favorite.

I had a friend in West Chester who covered his yard with Kerry/Edwards signs. That was a brave move in West Chester :-)

19. My neighbor that just moved in last month accross the street
stuck a HUGE, and I mean HUGE Ron Paul sign in his large window. We have obama stickers all over our cars. I waved to him, trying to be neighborly, and he wouldnt wave back. Twice now, even.

Takes all kinds I guess.

36. My neighbors across the street were Ron Paul supporters.....
After Super Tuesday I was putting out the trash on the street and saw their Ron Paul yard sign put out with their trash. I ran inside and grabbed my camera and took a picture of it, then I waited for the garbage man to come and take it away. I tried getting a good shot of the garbage man throwing it into the back of the truck, but you couldn't tell it was a Ron Paul sign.

Last week they came over and put and asked where they could get an Obama sign. I had two extras so I gave them one.

20. Anyone remember that story about the Kerry supporter in 2004 who got tired....
... of having his Kerry/Edwards sign stolen in the middle of the night, over and over?

He hooked up a motion-detector to a tree-soaker hose. }(

How do you get a yard sign? Took me forever to get bumper stickers. We will put it up in a heartbeat.

23. Do you live in a state with an upcoming primary?
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 06:06 PM by alteredstate
If you do, you might be able to snare a yard sign at your local Obama office.

In the weeks before the primary, there weren't any yard signs in my town. Somehow two signs showed up at the Obama office one night when I was doing volunteer work. I begged for one, and the staffers let me have it. I had the only Obama yard sign for miles. My neighbor commented on it, and made some extremely inappropriate and uncharitable comments about my candidate. He was truly offended by the sight of an Obama sign on our street. The next day it was gone.

28. No, Maryland here. So sorry to hear that story, though.
I hope you will consider posting this as a separate post, because it's quite a story. No primary here coming up, although we voted beautifully here in Maryland. I live and vote here now, but I am a born, bred and will die as a committed Michigander. Michigan is home, although I have lived in a number of states. And I will retire there, I hope.

25. Maybe you put the sign where he can see it every time he looks out the window?
Some people flat out don't like Obama and don't want to be reminded of him. Or maybe you said something he thinks is offensive to him and that's his way of getting back at you. Politics has a way of picking at old wounds.

I had Kerry signs stolen from my yard a couple times. That's just politics. As long as they don't key my car, I don't have a problem with it. But since you know it's your neighbor, ask him why.
