Dallas political analyst final column (found dead w/ wife): No HRC/BO "Dream Ticket"

Sad. First link is his final post on the Dallas blog on Friday..below it is the article on the suspected murder-suicide of him and his wife last night.

No matter what Democratic Party leaders want, the obvious fact is Obama and Clinton are so vastly different in their approaches to governance and politics, that assuming they could work effectively together is fanciful at best. Sen. Joe Biden ruminated during the campaign that being Vice President in a Hillary Clinton administration is a thankless job since former president Bill Clinton’s influence and involvement would certainly overshadow anybody who became the Vice President. So, why would Obama be willing to bring his vast campaign coffers and his huge following to become a powerless supporting actor in the Hillary and Bill Show?

I cannot quite imagine Hillary Clinton playing second fiddle to President Barack Obama. Her personality and her style of governance simply would not be compatible with Obama’s goal of bringing change to the way Washington does business. How could Obama ever be comfortable with the inevitable second guessing that will surely come from a Vice President Hillary Clinton’s office as the Clintons closely monitored President Obama’s every action?

When the field for the Democratic nomination was narrowed down to two very popular and well-financed historical candidates, the party felt an embarrassment of riches. But what was once an embarrassment of riches may become just an embarrassment if we are unable to unify the party around either Clinton or Obama. Creating a “dream ticket” with two candidates who have very different world views of politics and Washington D.C. could possibly win an election but it would be a governance disaster. At least that is how I see it from South of the Trinity.

Hours before the bodies of political analyst Rufus Shaw and his wife ex-DART board chairwoman Lynn Flint Shaw were found in their home, Mr. Shaw made a call to a friend.

Dallas police said the couple was found dead from an apparent murder-suicide at about 9:40 p.m. Monday in the 6660 block of Braddock Place. Mr. Shaw, 56, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a police report.

Ms. Shaw was booked into the Dallas County Jail last month after a warrant was issued for her arrest on a charge of tampering with a governmental record. She was released on a $500 bond. The Class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to a year in the county jail and a $4,000 fine.

Colleagues said Mr. Shaw had also been battling cancer. “I knew he had prostate cancer, but the last time I was talking to her they were upbeat. They had had positive news back from the doctor,” said DART president Gary Thomas. He said he spoke to Ms. Shaw about a week and she told him her husband was "doing fine."

That he was going through chemo, that I hadn't heard before. His wife was about to be indicted for forging the DA's signature on a letter. They were bringing in someone from the outside to work the case against her.

8. Apparently even some people close to him didn't know re: the cancer

He had left a voice mail for local politician/his friend Royce West that said (paraphrasing here) "By the time you get his message, we will be dead. Please help our son help with arrangements and getting our things in order".

Like the article said, it may be that no one will ever know if the wife knew about his plan and went along with it or if he planned the murder-suicide without her knowledge.

And, like you said, the Dallas DA's office had just recused itself from the case...there is no telling where this would have headed and what else would have been coming out of the while thing.
