Has the Clinton campaign begun 'Operation: Race War'?
Howard Fineman brought up an interesting point on KO last night. Hillary's refusal to reject Ferraro's comments and/or remove her from the campaign may be a subtle nod to the conservative, white, uneducated portion of PA that "hey, I'm with you, I don't like this uppity black either." In a way, Clinton is almost daring Obama to make a big deal out of this. I believe Hillary feels like racial battles are ones she can win. Clearly she will not win the black vote in PA (or from here on out), so her goal is to turn this into a fucking race war or something, with her appealing to backwards white people. This strategy is short-sighted, as burning bridges with the African-American community would cost her dearly in a general election. Not to mention, it is just a crummy thing to do.

1. Yep. She's REALLY trying to keep her grasp on the white vote in PA.
I never thought that she'd go this far though...

6. I was going to post about PA last night. There are pockets of PA
that are racist and she is playing to that vote.

11. Hillary's new campaign slogan
Hillary '08... Solutions for America White Power!

It's pathetic.

4. I wouldn't call it starting a race war
but it certainly is a cynical and disgusting nod to racism. That's quite bad enough.

15. Clinton would love nothing more than an all out race war
Which would marginalize Obama by morphing him into the "black candidate" going into the GE, meanwhile preserving her viability for '12 (although this is up for legitimate dispute).

7. "burning bridged with the AA community"

Hillary knows she's lost this nomination.

She's smart. She knows.

This is all about 2012 now.

She needs to completely destroy Barack Obama to make 2012 a possibility for her.

Her cultish followers are along for the ride.

8. I have seen the 2012 discussion about Hillary raised before...
...and until she started so openly playing the racist card and running a racist campaign, I did not think too much of it.

However, at this point in time, there are only two explanations for her conduct:

1. She has been a closet racist for years; and/or

2. She knows she has lost the nom for 2008 and is looking towards 2012.

There is NO way in hell she cannot be aware of the sick crap coming out of her campaign. Any other candidate hearing and seeing the conduct of certain supporters like Ferraro most certainly would have repudiated the same...but not Hillary. So, she obviously joins in on the nasty, sick, bigoted statements which were made on her behalf.

:puke:

At this point in time, I would not vote for that bigoted bitch Hillary Clinton if she were the ONLY name on a ballot...even for dog catcher.

JMHO

9. Rumors of her anti-semitism have dogged her for years
I think a lot of so-called progressives are racist when it comes down to it. Much like Geraldine Ferraro. And the pity is that people like that can't see that their talk is racist, they just think it's the way things ought to be.

17. Obviously not THAT smart
If she thinks the Democratic Party will forgive her if she is perceived as being responsible for a McCain victory in November.

but yes, the campaign has gone where they shouldn't in terms of pushing this racist crap.

19. Hearing this last night and the other commentary, this is a very strange strategy
PA people, has there been any reaction to the constant repetition of what Carville has been alledged to say - that PA is Philadelphia on one side, Pittsburgh on the other and Alabama in the middle. They often then describe Alabama in a very negative way.

It seems they are race baiting and arguing that these people will be attracted by that or unwilling to vote for Obama.

All I know, is that if I were a Pennsylvanian from that area, I would be progressively annoyed - I also might not like the characterization if I were from Alabama.
