Mississippi ROCKS! Who cares about Ferraro and her racist remarks?
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 10:17 AM by Blue_Roses
After the vote yesterday in Mississippi, she's a dying breed. I grew up in Mississippi's neighbor state--Louisiana--during the 1960's and this would have been unheard of then. I'm SO proud of Mississippi, even though I'm not blind to the racism that still exists there.

You see, it doesn't really matter WHAT "color" or "gender" voted for who. Just the simple fact that the demographics who overwhelming turned out--in Mississippi--should make you smile. The horrific crimes that took place are not just a place in history, but a lesson that this should never be repeated again. Period. Whether it be by voice or action, racism should be a thing of the past. Yesterday showed this coming to pass. When I hear comments of how much of the "white" vote Hillary got compared to how much of the "black" vote Obama got, all I hear is baited racism. But if you can look past those comments and see what an awesome thing happened yesterday--that WE witnessed history in the making--should make your heart swell.

I can't help but think that all those who died in the process, to help make this possible are smiling today.

1. Well, it's clear now that black people CAN vote...

And that's an improvement over the 1950s and 1960s.

Were there any reports of voter intimidation??

2. "You see, it doesn't really matter WHAT "color" or "gender" voted for who."
I really like that sentence most of all in your post, and it is so, so true. I wish the racists would get it.

3. Since she didn't make any, the only ones who "care" are those who pretend she did.

4. Yes, they are
Medgar Evers comes to mind, as well as Goodman, Chaney, and Schwerner.

I think that, for some at least, this was an election based upon the content of character rather than color of skin.

Obama is steamrolling through the South. Did you ever think you'd see the day when a black man would win the South by such huge margins?

I volunteered for Obama in Georgia and walked the inner city Savannah streets in an effort to get out the vote. I talked with a few old black women who openly weeped at the sight of me, a big white boy, knocking on doors wearing my Obama shirt, working to get a black man elected in South Georgia.

Fuck Hillary for pissing in this pool of good feelings in a region and country where years ago a black president was unheard of. Her lust for power is beyond shameful.

I'm sorry for mentioning the "H" in your post about change and progressivism.
