Olbermann "Special Comment" tonight to take on a Dem: Hillary Clinton
I'm all ears.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/12/keith-olbermann-to-do-sp_n_91110.html

It's a significant moment, because it marks the first time a full-throated special comment will have been directed exclusively at a Democrat. Not just the Democrats, whom Olbermann accused along with the Republicans last May for failing to do anything to get the country out of Iraq, but one particular Democrat — a Democrat whom, incidentally, he did a special comment defending in July after the Defense Dept. sent her a letter accusing her of facilitating anti-U.S. propaganda by demanding to know whether the administration had conceived of an exit strategy from Iraq. He also defended her husband, Bill Clinton, in Sept. 2006 after his controversial interview with FNC's Chris Wallace. I wouldn't expect either of them to get much defending this time around — though something tells me this one will get a lot more than 100,000 views.

1. That is incorrect - it's not directed "at a Democrat"... it's directed at her Campaign.

Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 11:12 AM by npincus
for what they (and surrogates) say and do? Ridiculous! As Obama takes responsibility for his camapgn tactics (Samantha Power resignation is an example), Hillary should stop playing vicitm and take responsibility for hers.

Olbermann's indictment of the campaign she's run is an indictment of the candidate- that can't be escaped. Unliess he is exlicity giving her a pass, that's the way it is.

23. Dramatic Underground
every show for past 2 years?

Quite contrary, he's been portrayed as a truth to power hero here on the boards of DU. His criticism of HRC is fairly new due to her kitchen sink campaign tactics. IMO, he is still speaking truth to power, only this time it's one of our own.

6. Thought It Will Be Based In Part On Fact, Much Of It I'm Sure Will Be Over Hyped Bias And Rhetoric.
I've been disappointed in his bias during all of this, and I expect it tonight to reach a fevered pitch. I don't totally fault him though, since this has been such an exciting and competitive primary season that even he isn't immune from taking sides and having a perception slanted towards whichever side he supports.

But what I always liked about his special comments were his blunt truth in them. Tonight, however, I think he will jump the shark a bit with his special comments since instead of being based on fact, I have a feeling they will become far more based on subjective perception and bias instead, which is a tad disappointing. I will watch it with an open mind though, and I hope it turns out to not be the case.

37. Leftist talk shows and bloggers?
I thought Democrats were leftist. Hell, according to the Hillary folks, Hillary is a leftist. If that's the case, what's wrong with being a leftist talk show host, blogger, or plain leftist? Especially since, at least according to the latest Hillary supporter spin, Obama is some sort of RW plant:shrug:

I think that you Hillary supporters are succumbing to dizziness and confusion resulting from too much of your own spin.

and may i suggest women all over this country do the same!

thank you..from an Edwards supporter..who has had enough of the sexism at MSNBC.

Racism is not right..but nor is sexism...MSNBC has been blatantly sexist!

and if i have to keep seeing so called journalists make their choices known so blatantly as KO..then i will not longer watch any news in this country.

Morrow KO is not..and it is an insult to real journalists before him, that we never knew who they supported, but they stayed neutral..KO is a disgrace! and is no longer allowed in my home.

You would rather torch the party, piss off the majority, screw our chances in November and now pitch fork the voices who have championed for us just so precious Hillary can be the nominee?

22. Olberman will have to apologize one day, if he lambastes HRC tonight.
Keith has momentarily forgotten that Don Quixote was actually a deluded old man, not a shining knight out to right the world's wrongs. I am fed up with KO's willing, no, anxious, leap into the front of the lynch mob marching on Castle Hillary. I can only attribute it to peer pressure.

But I hope I have not misjudged him so much that, when enough time has passed for him to calm down and take a real LOOK at the 'evidence' he is using to condemn Hillary, he will realize it is as big a tissue of lies as the Iraq War was built upon. I trust, then, that he will realize he had been had, and will apologize publically for it. I don't expect that of any of the other poisonous meat-puppets, but I expect it of Keith.

I have no doubt that Keith understands just how important this Special Comment needs to be. In fact I would not be surprised if this particular one is his best ever. I expect this Special Comment to be brought up everywhere from different networks, to radio shows, to the news media pounding Hillary for a response.

If the Democratic leadership won't stand up to Hillary maybe it will have to be Keith to get the ball rolling.

32. His Special Comments
about Bush were for the most part true. In retrospect, I'm not sure they were good for our country around the world, but in any event, it was an outlet for venting frustrations out over the current administration. Those comments changed nothing but his ratings.

So now he's going after Hillary, and I will not be in his audience. He doesn't have any respect for the 9 million people that have supported and voted for her, and he will loose half his audience. I hope the Clinton's sue him for slander.
