While you fight over Hillary\Obama, whio's talking about McCain
and his huge negatives?

Good job... say hi to President McCain... and when that happens all of you, who collectively have your asses you know where... can can all take the blame for it.

Oh wait, you will find anybody but yourselves to blame for President McCain...

After all it is them damn Publicans...

Look folks, it is a TECHNICAL TIE... so get your heads out of your collective asses and realize WHO is the enemy...

And yes BOTH sides are using scorched earth, so to me this is NUTS.

Now back to your scheduled fight, after all making sure we have four more years of Republicans is far more important than thinking of the future of the country.

Yes, I am starting to wonder if the Dems want to ensure they loose the election, or make sure the right wing does not have to engineer a coup or other shady means of staying in power.

Oh and before you cry... I will hold my nose and vote for either of these two... in November, but I cannot guarantee the same for all the partisans here.

Oh and the USSC is at stake, among other things

Oh I forgot, return to your scheduled fight.

1. Yep
McCain is enjoying not having to spend any money nor time at the moment. The longer this is all drawn out, the more they get a free ride from the democratic party.

Good post, well said.

2. Rachel Maddow is asking the same thing
and it's a good point. Here we are attacking each other instead of forcing the candidates to tell us HOW they are going to beat that smug, temperamental asshole. And, at the same time, we are allowing the media, "his base," to continue giving him back rubs.

5. Yes, that is a good question
but you will see this sink, since most of the partisans come up with all kinds of excuses

3. First of all, DU isn't the real world...
To think what happens here is important is silly.

Secondly ~ the scorched earth/kitchen sink policy DOES NOT go both ways in the real world.

4. Yes, DU ain't the real world
you're right, it is only an extreme of the real world

Tell me.. how many of the talking heads are talking of McCain?

Good.. that answer the question.

But how many are covering in dreary detail the self destruction of the Dem Party.

Good.

Now that we have settled this, tell me what story line is playing in the minds of voters?

McCain's negatives or the heavy weight championship in the Democratic Party?

Cui Bono?

8. People haven't forgotten about the war or the economy or the deficit...
...or global warming or our soiled reputation around the world ~ or any of the other horrors associated with the Bush administration.

Everything will be just fine ~ as long as our nominee is clearly and powerfully different from McCain.

We have to deal with the internal enemy before we can take on the external enemy.

27. No, reality TV has turned America into a nation of Neros.
They care more about voting for American Idol than the American President. They prefer to fiddle away on trivial tawdry bullshit rather than confront the 800 pound fascist gorilla head-on.

24. As someone who doesn't support either one - no, it's not.

Clinton is BY FAR the worst.

Obama's not trying to cheat. He didn't play the racist card. He didn't threaten anyone's children with death-by-terrorists if his opponent wins. He didn't endorse the republican over his opponent.

And HE'S not the one who suggested, when asked about b*s*/cheney's power grabs, that keeping some of them were okay and would be decided on by said candidate. THAT'S ILLEGAL.

So no, it's not even close to the same from both campaigns.

12. Don't blame us -- We're just the peons arguing among ourselves
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 06:12 PM by Armstead
We're just the little people who individually aren't going to put a stop to it. That's above our pay-grade.

Heck if I had my way, John Edwards would be going after McCain this very minute.

Instead, we're stuck with this bloody, endless primary. And, since this is the political discussion section of DU, that is what is going to be discussed.

For the Bush sucks, McCain is a jerk section of DU, may I point you to General Discussion or some of the topic threads?

And that, with all its implications, give me shudders.

29. McCain is talking about McCain and he is uncontested
and will continue to be while dems fight amongst themselves.

It looks like this is going all the way to the convention ... that being August this is going to be the most uncontested General Election in history by being the most contested primary.

And contested ugly, it is personal, it is sexist and racist and just the prospects of the next 6 weeks is enough to turn the stomach at this rate, let alone 4 months of it. It is becoming a spectator sport for middle America while they wait for the new episodes of the favorite TV show to come back on.

McCain is out raising much needed money, meeting with key players and holding town hall meetings. He is quietly going about the business of running for POTUS getting his political machine together while the dems become more divided each day. Our candidate will emerge as pulp fiction at the end, bloody pulp at that, with hard feelings and a divided and alienated base and neither the time nor the words to heal it for the GE.

My sister is in her early 50's, she has never voted republican in her life, she was so excited about Obama and voted for him Super Tuesday. I talked to her yesterday to see if she wanted an Obama yard sign and she told me she was voting for McCain! I asked what changed her mind and she said there were several things, but mostly thinking about the 3am phone call question...she wants McCain to answer that call. Other smaller things were the 8 question limit of Obamas and Michelle's never been proud comments.

What a tragic waste.
