Rev. Jeremiah Wright was Oprah's Pastor Too
She's a member of the same church as Obama. I'm waiting for Hannity et al to demand that she give up her TV program so she can't bring that racism into white homes every day. After all she should have known to denounce Wright and reject the church by now since all his sermon's must be hate filled and against America and rich whites.

And while everyone is busy agreeing that Wright's comments went over the line .... I'll quietly say that they sure are understandable with the history of what blacks in this country have had to endure ... as recently as Katrina. I wonder how many were thinking God Bless America then and in the aftermath.

17. AND STONE HER.
there is no freedom of what church you decide to go to! (unless it's milquetoast brimstone gawd stuff led by the whitey recipes of submission and acceptance to domination, coinciding with corporatist want of a sleeping herd, of a different and kinder nature ).

9. It would be great if she would do a show on the church
it looks to me like they do so much good for the community. She could really help to educate those who are only looking at the pastor's lively delivery of words instead of the great things the church is accomplishing. 6,000 members is nothing to sneeze at! I think it would make a great show.

37. As I mentioned elsewhere in this thread:
I long for a time when those seeking office will just tell me what *they* think and not what they think *I* want to hear.

I agree that he didn't have a choice if he wants to be elected. I just wish I knew if he meant it.

I should add that I, in no way, intend this to come off as Obama-bashing - I actually have no problem with the reverend's comments and was somewhat disappointed that he disavowed them rather than pointed out the truth in them.

I guess I just find myself continually frustrated by this type of thing and candidates denouncing this or that because they have to in order to survive politically. I want people who tell me what they honestly think - I'm supposed to be able to choose between candidates based on what they believe not on what they want me to think they believe.

Sorry, I'm rambling...

32. I'm still not sure what he said that was so wrong...
I'm not entirely certain I've seen all the clips but there's nothing in the few I've watched that I can fundamentally disagree with. I'm sure it all could have been said in more diplomatic words, but I can't say I can disagree with anything here.

Plus, I don't want anyone denouncing anything if they don't mean it, ya know? I guess I just wish for a time when people running for office would just tell me what they think, not what they think *I* want them to think.

If Obama really does disagree, then cool, denounce away - but I think, were it me, I'd have to ask the person urging my denunciation to tell me what the guy said that was fundamentally untrue.

50. I do not want to hijack your thread, you have made a great point and intelligently said.
Perhaps, we all should tell Senator Obama to ignore the idiocy that is trying to derail him and he should focus on being the next President of the US! All this race bait, flame bait is not doing any of the Dem candidates any good. By the way, am an Obama supporter. I cannot vote in your elections, but my goodness, he inspired me to no end. Most Americans do not follow politics in other countries, but Obama is just like Walter Rodney. Enough said, this is about American politics and by the way, the world is looking on. Senator Clinton is the same old same old, on the other hand, Senator Obama is a refreshing person and many countries are already backing him, including Canada!
