Exposing the Hypocrisy of America
There can be no doubt anymore that Jeremiah Wright was right on one point: "Obama does not fit the mold".

It's clear from what is happening that only a white person could ever qualify to be president, according to the people who think they matter more than others. Or maybe if a black person grows up in a white neighborhood so that he or she never comes to know anyone who may have a different opinion about things. Maybe. I don't know any black people at all who don't know somebody controversial. Even if you manage to claw your way up, you still have friends and family in "unqualified" circumstances.

I'm certainly not qualified. As a lawyer, I have represented criminals. Puts me right out of the running, doesn't it?

I could not believe being asked if I donated money to my church. Is there anybody who belongs to a church who does not donate? I don't know how Obama was able to maintain his dignity at that interrogation. I would have shot back, "of course I do, don't you donate to your church"?

Besides, the pastor of a church is not the church. The church is a community.

This is all so absurd. We are going backwards about 1500 years. People are being tortured, people are being tazed. People are being forced to denounce their friends. It took thousands of years of struggle to get away from all of that, but here we are yet again.

I noticed in all the things that Wright said, he continually said "we", ie "We bombed Nagasaki" etc., clearly identifying himself as an American and part of the problem. Nobody is noticing that.

They have taken a religious diatribe and transformed it into politics. Absurd.

In Obama, they have attempted to turn the most gentle man imaginable, into a racist. It's absurd.

I appreciate Barrack Obama because he represents a new consciousness. This is the thing that most of his detractors don't understand. On the other hand, his enemies understand this all too well.

3. Yeah it's pretty stomach churning
If there's a pastor alive who hasn't said something controversial, then that's a lousy pastor. But when the white ones say crazy things about assassinating foreign leaders and bombing arabs to oblivion, well that's just a little oopsie daisy and on we go. A black pastor addresses that kind of thinking, and he's a racist and everybody who has ever spoken to him is a racist too.

Any DUer who is perpetuating this shit is a sick individual.

"new consciousness" Yes, that's it exactly.

5. The more this crap keeps on ...
happening the more I respect the man. He handles this shit far better than I can even imagine doing. It is sad to see, but to watch it fizzle and die on the vine, however momentary, gives me the most incredible feeling of <gasp> hope!

6. Thank you for this.
I made the same observation when Wright talked about what "WE" did. He was not excluding himself from the problem at all. Sure, he could have not screamed it at the top of his lungs, but he is obviously a passionate man. He does not believe white people are evil. He believes black people are equal to whites. I guess that is a problem for SOME small segment of the white community. He was mostly talking about social injustice, poor people, and how this country interacts with the rest of the world. I hate how they are TRYING to paint Obama. It is shameful and this country is nose diving to the bottom of the barrel with this mess. Hannity and his ilk are some of the most hypocritical and evil people on the face of this earth.

8. It's gonna be alright because they are being exposed.
Hannity calls himself a christian yet all day he kept saying there is nothing Obama could say to "redeem" himself. LOL

The sheer arrogance of these people. Pre-emptive wars, tortures, tazings, confessions, guilt by association.

Didn't they howl bloody murder when Trent Lott and others got in trouble for bad associations? Yet here they are doing a character assasination.

9. I hope you're not right
about only a white person qualifying to be president. Great post nonetheless.

This whole (non)story is so disgusting to me because it is purely about race. I (naively) had thought that maybe we'd moved beyond the primacy of race in this country a little bit in the past 40 years. This Wright story is definitely making me question my assumptions, especially when so many Democrats seem so eager to pile on.

12. If America could grow up and handle the truth
Then we ain't having this discussion, but we are working to fix the problems. Easier to scream about how offended we are at being told the truth though, huh?

I'm black and the Reverend was RIGHT. Get over it America and grow the fuck up.

15. It's because Obama doesn't fit the mold people like me are coming back
and even looking at the Democratic party. It the Democratic party turns its back on the consciousness of the people it claims to represent, it'll be dead to me forever. Barack Obama rocks.
