1. A frank discussion on race in this country.
I have not been so interested in something on the MSM in years. I mean, really, intellectually INTERESTED.

It's wonderful.

3. Yes - thank God they are now going after McCain on the hypocrisy issue
He has whack jobs supporting him too. This is good in a way - get the nut-jobs that Bush had in his pocket out of this election.

4. Agreed. It has been the best discussion this evening.
I was shocked at Gergen's defense of the black community.

I was impressed with Obama's new preacher, too.

Good one - that's how I've been describing Obama supporters for several days now. Nice way to try to blunt it.

6. I am, and I agree
I have always liked David Gergen. I've never heard him be unfair or overly partisan in all the years he's been a commentator, even though he's a Republican. Tonight, he especially showed his thoughtfulness. Good for him.

And while Tony Perkins is, on the whole, anathema to me, and while he still condemned Wright, he showed restraint and was fairer than I thought he'd be. I had no idea he co-authored his book with an African-American pastor, who, I'll bet, sees things as he does (abortion, gay "agenda", etc.)... but it gives him a different perspective, in my eyes.

20. yes but ultimately there were a lot of republicans who went after him
and who also hated Nixon. I am not saying there weren't the bastards back then its just you can't find many like Gergen now

11. I am. They moved the discussion to McCain and religion pretty quick.
I wanted to see all of Obama's appearances, and after Fox's I wasn't too pleased. I still don't like the thread Obama left when saying he "wasn't there", but we'll see how all this works out.

17. yes, that does sound weak...
...but then again, considering how much he's in Washington, at least for the last 3 years, and if he travels a lot, etc... I can see where he wasn't in church for every single sermon. I don't see how he could be. And again, as Roland Martin said, in 36 years of his ministry, these sound bites - IF that's the worst of it and that's all there is - are a pretty tiny percentage of his preaching.

And I believe Obama with respect to not knowing Rev. Wright was saying the specific inflammatory rhetoric that he was saying as well.

21. The coverage has been refreshingly FAIR and balanced. I had to take a shower after
watching Hannity tonight. I swore 7 years ago I'd never watch one minute of him and I haven't until tonight. It made me feel dirty. He is absolutely the most disgusting human being on the face of the planet, I think worse than Limbaugh or O'Reilly, because he makes himself out to be a good CATHOLIC. Its a slight to my religion.

Anyway, yeah, AC is doing an excellent job and Obama's interview with him was best of all three, I think.

23. Obama brought up what could be a very effective argument for him--that there has
been a lot of anger and frustration in the black community, especially from those that were part of the 60's, and it is part of Obama's job to help the black community transition to a better future for all, less bitter and less divided.

He kind of hesitated after the "Hillary Clinton N*****" clip but all in all it's worth a watch.
