The Weird Political Symmetry In Ferraro and Wright's Angry Rhetoric
Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 10:39 PM by cryingshame
Perhaps older activists (Wright AND Ferraro) have residual Anger after fighting societal injustices.

Perhaps younger generations of Americans are more inclined to move toward inclusiveness because of our elders efforts.

That said, Social Justice is what the Big Picture is about. It's what Martin Luther King's message was about and why it endures.

King didn't just speak about discrimination in terms of black America.

I would dearly love to hear Obama address Social Justice and how each generation needs to rededicate itself to achieving greater measures of equality for one another.

This would include Blacks, Women, GLBT, etc.

Ferraro and Wright do seem somehow oddly alike, in some ways.

1. And it is about Social Justice. It's not a pissing match between gays, blacks and women
who has had it worse.

2. Wright's comments weren't racists. Ferraro's were!

They are accusing Wright of being anti-American, which is complete BS.

4. Wright is not anti-American. He is, however, politcally incorrect, raw and angry.

3. Anachronisms..both of them
Everyone is a product of the time they mature into.. It cannot be avoided, and since people live a long time, and remain productive, it;s unavoidable to have some crossover..

elders teach the young, and the young accept or reject at will, the parts they like or dislike..

It's just that simple..

Ministers like Wright came from an era of boisterous and righteous indignation.. It took him a long time to build a congregation, and I'm sure that most of the people who visit his church weekly, sit there and say AMEN..and then go off to their ordinary jobs with all cultures and races, and get along just fine..

His rhetoric has probably been the same for his whole career, and until someone from his congregation stepped outside the perimeter and started getting his life examined, Wright's message and delivery style was no big deal.. just another preacher with a specialized message..a message honed by decades of ministering.

Civil Rights legislation did not end racism.. it just sent it underground and gave it new clothing to wear.

It made BLATANT racism untenable and in some cases illegal, but it did not change hearts...that's a generational thing..

Overall, it's helped a lot, BUT my friends who have experienced discrimination pretty much all say the same thing.. It's a frustrating experience to know they have been discriminated against, yet be unable to pinpoint it or prove it.. It's no longer overt, but it's still there.. with jobs not given, unnecessary traffic stops, being followed while shopping, clerks laying change on the counter..instead of putting it in their hands..with inequity in schools in "urban" areas.. even the usage of the word "urban" has become a euphemism for non-white.. and there are many more examples..

Perhaps the older people like Wright, see this , and may feel like he needs to motivate the younger ones to "finish the task"..

5. Yes, racists now speak in code. It has become more incidious. Less overt.

7. If I say, "Eight of the NFL's top running backs are Black
is that racist? Was that a "racist" thing to say, since the thought involved race? If I say, "There are no Blacks on the US Olympic swim team," is that racist? You're stuck for answers - aren't you?

Jimmy the Greek said, "Slaves were bred to have bigger, stronger children," and he was fired from CBS for "being a racist,"

Bill said, "Jesse Jackson won the primary here in 1988." That was a fact, but America fainted at that vile and vicious and hateful anti-Obama racist trash.

I've never heard a racist word from Bill or Hillary, but Obama supporters hear racist words from them constantly.

So yeah, if a Clinton backer said it, it must be racist.

8. perhaps pigment is the deciding factor in all this
seeing as Hillary can't win on her once thought inevitability (super tues scared the bejeebers out of her) or her 'feminism' (ha!)
she has to go skin color deep - that's the only card she holds now as Obama holds all else in adultness contrary to her stupido idiot school child schlock.

and Shame on You who take that bait.

Obama is not black/white or plaid, he is Presidential.
