I am not sitting in judgment on either of our fine candidates
but I want to throw up

It seems like just a few weeks ago that dems were crowing about the pugs and the gift that keeps on giving, with all their scandals and trophy wives and stuff

Well, they cleared the decks and narrowed it down to one a lot of them don't care for but who just might have some appeal to middle-of-the-road types

And we have a fucking shitstorm that makes our two remaining choices look worse by the day. I am not saying any of it means a damned thing about either of them or their qualifications, just that Ferraro and Wright and the s-chip story and racism and accusations of racism and accusations of not wearing a flag pin and on and on is all really depressing. And it hasn't even really started yet. Spitzer doesn't help the dem image either.

I searched in vain for the article written last fall to the effect that when the dems lose the WH in 08 in what should have been the easiest victory ever, they will look back at Biden and say "what were we thinking?"

Same could be said for Edwards. I would do handsprings if we could have Chris Dodd.

I keep picturing Dukakis in the stupid tank, and thinking yeah, that's what we need: primaries where every tom dick and harry who doesn't know shit from shinola votes in a popularity poll to pick the next doofus we want to put up against THE MACHINE. Bring back the damned smoke-filled room, please!

Mondale, Dukakis, McGovern... yeah, we know how to pick 'em. With a track record like that, let's just close our eyes and throw a dart at the wall.

Oh well, this phase will blow over, and maybe muckain will get caught taking a leak in public or something.

I would be :rofl: if it weren't so fucking :cry:

* Not a CQG original.

on edit: I have lost all interest in politics since Biden dropped out. I feel certain that he is our best & last hope. So, I don't care who wins the nom. Whoever that person is, they will be leaps & bounds better than McCain, so cut this fucking "If Clinton/Obama doesn't win I won't vote." Get over your-fucking-selves. It's not just about you. Our country is at stake. Our planet is at stake. It may be too fucking late as it is, but if McCain wins, you can kiss everything good, goodbye.

3. tell us what you really think, CQG!
I really do think it IS too late. Even if the pugs don't get a re-up, which I am beginning to fear for real, there will be so much continuing shitstorm during the ill-fated administration - like whitewater on steroids - that it will just be a brief hiatus (like Carter) in their grand plan to establish a true oligarchy.

I think we were screwn the minute JFK was killed. Its been downhill ever since.

4. SCOTUS
We're probably toast anyway, but if we have one, much less two republican terms, we're burnt toast.

Ahh, JFK. I was six.
