1. White and almost 40, and right there with ya.
Obama's pastor has been known about for quite a while and all of a sudden BAM this blows up on the MSM. And whaddya know? Gerri Ferraro's off the front page now.

2. I don't think Clinton's campaign was behind this one
There's no evidence of that...there's some evidence that McCain's campaign may have been behind it.

Wolfson declined to criticize Obama for this...they are not the ones doing the attacking here.

We as Democrats all need to stand together to fight right wing smears like this, and blaming Clinton is not going to help. We need to reach out to Clinton supporters and ask them to stand with us in fighting this right wing slime, as I would hope that we would do if Clinton were the victim of a swiftboat attempt like this.

5. Yeah, the Republicans were definitely behind this one, using their surrogate Faux Noise.
Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 11:37 PM by Tatiana
And kudos do go to the Hillary camp for not inserting themselves into the controversy to score a political cheap shot.

Bottom line is I support the open form of government Obama will bring and this sideshow has not caused me to waver one bit.

33. This is one of the few times that I've actually been proud of the Hillary campaign.
It was noble of Hillary not to dredge the depths on this ridiculous story. I've had some huge problems with the campaign she's run, but her integrity on this story has been noted.

(And I'm really hoping we don't find out that her campaign was actually behind this...)

3. I choose to believe the Clinton campaign is not behind this.
I'm praying the Democratic party will not be ripped apart by this nomination process. And I believe that the Republican party is blood-thirsty and frightened of both Obama and Clinton, in different ways.

They are the first enemy.

I think Clinton now knows that she cannot actively destroy Obama and expect to win the Superdelegates.

Of course I rebelled from the religion part, but.... (Tried to raise me in religion)

I agree with the second post, I think that the Clinton Campaign had something to do with bringing this into the lime light of our notorious MSM...

15. Yes, just because they are quiet, doesn't mean they aren't involved.
They are letting it play out for now, but don't kid yourselves.

I will NEVER give the Clinton slime machine a pass. Each time a new mud ball is thrown at Obama I am amazed at some people on this board who so easily reject Clinton's involvement. They did say they were going to throw the kitchen sink at him, and "let the vetting begin," and this is the "fun" part. Or when she makes the non-apology apology about Ferraro, they accept it as genuine.

How many times do you have to be fooled before you wise up? They have done this repeatedly in the campaign.

There is NOTHING that the Clinton campaign will not do, and I wouldn't be surprised if Clinton was in this WITH McCain, as it serves them both.

The Clintons have cozied up with RW talk and Fox and didn't I hear that Ferraro is a Fox analyst?

Take off the blinders, people.

I think this was a Hannity/Faux hit job to try and drive up Obama's negatives.

Luckily, he was able to reverse it and come out looking better.

His kung fu skills are unstoppable.

Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 11:48 PM by sorrybushisfromtexas
in a Baptist church where half the congregation walked out because a black nurse wheeled in one of our members.
I heard Catholic bashing almost every week.

I was made stronger by it and resolved to be better than many of my parent's generation were.

By the way I am 58 also and a liberal in Texas.

14. White, almost 70, Female,
who used to be middle class, but since my husband passed away, I have been poor. I live on Soc. Sec.only, so you could say I'm dirt poor. Obama is the only one I can trust to make sure I get to KEEP what little I have, which includes my Medicare coverage and prescrition coverage. The State of Ct. pays for my Medicare coverage 'cause my income is so low. I'm glad I'm not rich, otherwise I'd have to worry about my bank failing and my stocks being wiped out before my eyes. My daughter and her husband, about 10 years from retirement, have seen their 401 k retirement savings CUT IN HALF this past year. They are getting ready to send my twin grandsons to college. I have no idea how they are going to make it, so folks.......WE NEED OBAMA.....desperately!!!

28. The OP said they were "raised a fire and brimstone baptist in Tennessee."
Sure enough. And I'd never blame him for anything a pastor said back in Tennessee when the OP was taken off to church. Obama, if he was raised anything, was raised an atheist. Yet it was at Pastor Wright's church that Obama took the step of having himself baptized as a fully-grown adult man.

Wright is not just some random pastor. He is a foundation-stone in the architecture of Barack's self-made identity.

45. i will as OP answer your querie
we are all making a point of race because race is being made a point of by msm
they say whites back hillary
not me or anyone i have ever heard in my life
they are trying to paint the election in a racial light and the truth is that we are making our choices without regard to it
if each poster on DU represents a number of americans then read the responses
whatever that number is we represent
hillary mccain the msm all are alienating us by focusing on the single issue we have decided is not important
if this many old settled secure white folks are with obama
what does that speak of our feeling toward hillary
she is the tired old way we want to leave behind
she is the tired old way we have been against most of our lives
