and this list becomes quite a civilized and reasonable place. Lots of Clinton folks making their points, lots of Obama folks making theirs, strong opinions and some strong language, but nothing beyond the pale.

Anybody got an idea of how many people post to this list? Am I at 50%? 10%?

9. Some online environment I use
make ban lists and ignore lists subscribable. I think that's a really good idea.

6. Turn the list off and on?
I'd like to be able to ignore my Ignore List for a few minutes now and then just to see if the internecine knife fight continues, but I don't want to have to build it back up again each time!

13. Try Firefox with the IE Tab
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 11:13 AM by Fighting Irish
To see the page with the ignored people's ramblings, simply switch over. DU will show up in unregistered form (looks funny with all those ads). Simple as that.

The IE Tab is an add-on for the Firefox browser that typically shows what a particular site looks like with Internet Explorer:

19. Great Add on, great recommendation
But disable it when you are not on the du, it has memory leaks and makes your browser less secure, since it's well.. IE.

23. Pretty easy with tabbed browsing
Click the icon to see the tab in IE mode.

It will not switch the other tabs, but anything other subsequent page viewed in the IE tab will render in IE mode. I'm big on using tabs, and love the center click wheel of the mouse.

11. Ignore Means "Refuse To Tolerate" As Far As I'm Concerned
It's like saying "(I'm not even going to read ANY of so-and-so's posts because there's ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE that they're going to say post something good)."

I firmly believe that ignore lists are a form of intolerance and I'm not going to apologize for saying that. (And I'm AWARE that I may be on the OP's ignore list, so don't waste your time stating the OBVIOUS).

My ignore list is an honor
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 12:52 PM by theredpen
I put people on ignore because their posts are so great that I can't stop reading and I never get anything done.

You're on my ignore list!

Edit: Seriously, there are people who never post anything of value. It's called "discretion" not intolerance.

16. I agree w/ original post. Ignore feature has saved DU for me.
I usually don't Ignore first time offenders. Or even 2nd timers. If I recognize the name as a repeat offender, then they are banished.

If I log off and take a look at GD-P, its a MUCH different place!!

After a candidate is finally nominated, I will probably pardon everyone on my list and start building a new one.

20. So do I (want to know what they think)...
but that's assuming they are actually thinking about what they post. After reading dozens of posts from some of these folks demonstrating that no thinking is taking place they went on the list. I can get projectile emoting from other sources, I don't need it here.

that for everything of which I take notice I will, by that very act, fail to take notice of some other thing. It's gonna happen, so I try to improve the odds as best I can.
