I see an awful lot of people here (Hillary fans) who seem to be hoping Obama will lose this year so they could face on McCain in 2012.
Well to start, first let me make something very clear, Hillary would not win the nomination in 2012. Many people, especially blacks, would blame Hillary for Obama's downfall and would be very against her. She would not win the nomination ESPECIALLY if someone like Gore runs. We still do not know who will run, and if a big name like Gore goes at it, it will be completely over.
So first and foremost, I think Hillary would have no shot in the future if Obama loses something we should win. Practically endorsing McCain over Obama is stuff that will hurt us in the GE. Hillary has crossed the line.
Now as far as other women (or people of other races) goes, many Democrats would be very nervous to elect a woman or a black. Obama has a RIDICULOUS amount of hype. I have never seen anything like it. Many will think that if a guy like him can't win, how could another minority win? They would see America as a bunch of bigots.
If we go through the next 4 years with McCain, it will causes Democrats to become incredibly bitter, and they will want someone to blame. One of those people will be Hillary, and they will be beyond pissed at her. She could very easily become the Nader of the party. If she decides to run in 4 years, I doubt many Democrats are going to want to risk the election by going for her. As far as any other woman/black goes, they will also be worried to elect them after witnessing Obama lose.
Trust me, in 4 years (if Obama loses), we would care about only 1 thing for the sake of the party: GETTING BACK THE WHITE HOUSE. We would not risk it.
HOWEVER, if Obama wins, most will see America as a completely changed country. This will make it far more likely for a woman/black/etc to run and be elected in the future.
Point is, if many of you really want to see a woman in office (which it seems is the main reason for many voting Clinton here...), you should go for Obama in the GE.
I have said it over and over, Hillary will NOT be the nominee. We need to rally around Obama not just for the sake of this election, but for the sake of the future of our party.
