1. Excellent response ~
McCain was not doing the smear at all.

That is the way that all candidates should respond if we want to make real CHANGE in this election.

Where is the Clinton response?

2. Clintons response is a 12:15pm Press conference where she is going to drag all this up again
Cause she, you know, cares about the party.

24. Evidently they ignored Wright and went back to Rezko
I think they've figured out that the Wright dustup has reached its peak.

he puts it to rest in about 30 seconds with his viewpoint.

6. Congrats Hill & Obama for making McCain look like a statesman
I have to figure that a bunch of independents and Democrats are going to go for him for after seeing this video and thinking about our two candidates who are busy bashing each other over the head.

9. Race and Sexism should be off limits
in a 2009 campaign.

That is the CHANGE message that the youth of the world need to hear.

The adults are acting like children.

that he took that position. I hope our Senator from NY can give him as much as McCain just did.

14. McCain doesn't want Hagee to become a problem for him in the GE...
Increasingly, I also think he'd rather face Obama than Clinton. Yes, Clinton is generally less popular, and has higher negatives, but she is also an astoundingly dirty and vindictive campaigner. What she's proving right now is that even when she can't win, she'll do her damnedest to bloody up the winner so that he'll be too damaged to be effective later.

And when "being effective later" means doing assuming the role of President with dignity intact...

Easier to do without going through the Clinton smear machine first.

16. McCain wins this on points and displays why DUrs shouldn't count him out
in the GE. I know you all don't, but many think it's going to be a cake walk in Nov. against McCain. I would heartily disagree with those sentiments. Please remember who has been President these past, nearly, 8 years. Do not underestimate the stupidity and venality, and immaturity of about half the voting population.

34. McCain's only chance is to seem dignified and like a unifier.
Since he doesn't have the Republican base he must rely heavily on moderates, conservative Dems and Independents. Not to mention, he seems like he really means what he says which impresses me.

26. John McCain sought the endorsement of dubious preachers like John Hagee.
McCain didn't have the option of personally attacking Obama for this without looking like a hypocrite.

23. Nice words from John McCain himself, but his campaign...
...sent out a press release about Rev. Wright.

This is like when a right-wing talk show host warmed up the crowd at a McCain rally by repeatedly using Obama's middle name "Hussein" (after McCain's people asked him to deliver red meat) and then John McCain denounced the talk show host's words.

38. At the risk of sounding like a RW talking point, I think mccain
sincerely felt the sting of the smears against him and his daughter in 2000. Of course the more cynical part of me recognizes the reality that he can stay well above the fray because there are so many others willing to get into the gutter for his side when needed.

yet fools are busy giving him kudos for not attacking him on Fox News. Too many Obama voters are easily fooled.
