Obama camp adds 65,000 registered Dems to Pennsylvania
Rendell in 2002 was able to turnout a higher percentage of Democratic voters in the Southeast than voted in the Southwest. This is central to any Obama victory. To win he must push his turnout higher in the Southeast. Here enthusiasm and Obama volunteers could make a big difference. The Obama campaign has already begun a major voter registration drive to add Democrats to the roles. The current Democratic pickup is 65,000, most of whom will be Obama voters.

8. I'll do my part here in SW PA.... but outside of Allegheny county... LOTS OF RACISTS....

Most of my extended family among them.

(I live 20 miles south of Pittsburgh, just barely in Washington County).

However... I think... if Obama comes here a few times... he could make a BIG difference here, and lose it by a LOT less.

15. Word.
I live in Westmoreland County and know exactly what you are talking about. However, I did get a 62-year-old white male to register the other day who had never voted before in his life. He wants to vote for Obama.

Obama definitely needs to get here and do some campaigning. PA is not a lost cause to him.

9. Didn't I read that he helped get 100K before
Bill's 1992 election? He has an amazing ability to get this stuff done.

I hope he can get another 65K before the deadline.

11. I'm going out to Philly next weekend to work for the Obama campaign to register voters.
I missed the opportunity to volunteer here in NJ (was between candidates on Feb. 5, former Edwards supporter), but I'm gonna work my ass off in PA.

16. I just spent the afternoon registering voters
It's heavily Hillary out in redneck country in Southwestern PA. It was an eye opener for me because I mostly know people from near Pittsburgh and they're almost all Obama supporters.

In 2004, the Democrats in the city of Philadelphia gave Kerry 542,000 votes. The potential is there.

20. Oh I definitely think so!
This back and forth between the candidates is not covering up for the fact that the economy is not just in a recession, but a full blown depression, and I think that regardless of who people vote for, it will not be for a repuke. The turnouts have been consistently record-breaking to date.

...black enough? Well now he's black enough and definitely not a Muslim! Obama will overcome this negative coverage and show that he can take a punch or two. It's all good.

We need them to win the General Election - period. How many Democrats has Sen. Clinton registered? Why wouldn't their campaign be doing the same thing?
