Obama should NOT offer Hillary VP slot. He can do MUCH better.
If she was given the VP slot, her (and her husband) would be REWARDED for smearing Obama with implications of being a drug dealer, of being a Muslim, of saying something in private to the Canadians than he said in public here about NAFTA, about saying McCain met the CIC threshhold while Obama only has a speech he gave in 2002, etc.

He should choose someone with military experience who was against this war. Someone without the baggage the Clintons have. If there was a female that fit this description, that would be a bonus, but not a necessity.

and the supers are dumb enough to hand him the nomination, then Hillary shouldn't be VP because Obama will most likely lose to McCain. So Hillary will not want to be on a ticket with damaged goods and can run again in 2012 without the taint of being on a losing ticket!

Yes, I agree, Hillary should not accept VP from Obama!

to be vetted. Just you wait 'til the story turns to her continued refusal to release her past tax returns and First Lady documents, etc. SHE'LL be damaged beyond the point of winning in 2012, but I wouldn't put it past her to try. Afterall, she's not a Democrat as much as she's a Clintoncrat.

You want to see McCain get most of the Hispanic vote, women vote, over 50 vote???

Nearly half of this party supports Hillary.. IF you think spiting on their choice will get them to support yours ... Please say hello to Pres McCain..

and to those who say "Oh no!!! he can't pick Hillary .. she will see that he has an xcident so she can be pres" .. Please step away from the bong.. take off your aluminum foil hats or just go to Rush-ditto-head-land now..

The job BOTH B.O. and H.C. signed up for when they declared themselves candidates was to get a Democrat as our next Pres.. They are adults and better SUCK it up.. only 1 way I see this happening with this party getting soo divided.. and that is a unified ticket.. I really do not care which name comes 1st.. They got us here.. it is up to THEM to get us out of this dead end.. Both have to can their DAMN egos.. We MUST not allow McCain to win.. for the sake of those brave men/women in Iraq looking get the hell home... For the sake of the next 1-2 supreme court picks.. for the sake of an energy policy that does not take all the money out of our pockets and hand it to Exxon, for the sake of moving the football down the field toward universal health care!!..

62. If Hillary wins the nomination and at least has the popular vote, I'll vote for her in the general
It's a much tougher choice if Obama has the popular vote and pledged delegate lead and somehow Hillary gets the nomination (but I think that scenario is even less likely than Hillary getting the popular vote).

26. Correct..
Obama, if he wins the nomination, should not pick Hillary as his running mate. I doubt she would accept the offer and it would be a major waste of her talents.

Picking a V.P. with military experience would do nothing to shore up concerns about Obama's lack of experience because the V.P. has no official role in military decisions. He/she merely presides over the Senate. Cheney has been an exception because he's the #2 behind an incompetent bozo. Gore was given more of a role as V.P. than most, but it was still quite limied.

One way that Obama could increase his credibility for the position of President during the General Election would be to name his intended candidates for Defense Secretary and Secretary of State. If those folks were highly experienced and respected individuals, it might make a difference, but naming a cabinet before being elected would be ususual. I doubt he will do it.

Obama has very little chance of winning the General Election, having made himself vulnerable on multiple accounts: lack of experience, association with a racist, anti-American Pastor, and repeated disconnects between campaign rhetoric and his actual beliefs, according to his own campaign aides. Clinton's attacks on Obama have been restrained by his being a fellow Democrat. McCain will have no such restraints and the pounding Obama takes will be unrelenting. His coat of armor is already acquiring dents and has lost its glossy sheen.

32. Thanks for your analysis, but...
I disagree that a VP pick doesn't matter. Even if it's psychological, it will matter.

And he could choose both a VP AND members of his cabinet.

He does NOT have very little chance of winning the GE. He's not vulnerable on lack of experience-he can point not only to his judgement but to his supporters who are generals, his work on different committees, and past presidents with little experience in certain areas.

I don't think Rev. Wright is a racist. I think you're confusing racism with Black pride/recognition. Wright doesn't think his race is SUPERIOR to white people, but points out the struggles his race have gone through to get to even where they are today. And I don't think he hates America, either. He just hates its policies. Like Ron Paul. He doesn't blame 9/11 on abortion or gay people. He blames it on our foreign policies, which I think is right. And once Obama starts debating McCain, people will flock to him and run from McCain.

And I don't care who is in which position.

There will be unhappy people on both sides if it happens, but this ridiculous divisiveness within the party, as so amply exemplified at DU, can only be cured by the two candidates teaming up.

I hope they have the wisdom to do it.

73. I like most of those choices. And like I said,
a woman would be a bonus (IMO). It would give all those women who just want to vote for another woman :eyes: someone to vote for and it would be a big "back of the hand" to Hillary for her dirty campaigning.

That's why harmon (who chaired the Intelligence Committee) and Tauscher (who serves on Armed Services) came to mind.

So they did NOT support him because of his race. He had to EARN their support. I guess some women just buy what Hillary tells them-she embodies change by being a woman. :eyes:

88. Let's see... here are some ideas
Well, she's not well-known and she's not political, not even a Democrat - but could be an interesting pick: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karen_Kwiatkowski

Or how about Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) who chairs the House Homeland Security committe now and formerly chaired the House Intelligence committes (and I think she was on the Armed Forces committee too, but I can't quite remember). She's maybe not quite as progressive as we would like but she has pretty good ratings.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Harman

A "way off the reservation" idea is Chuck Hagel ... oh wait, he might be a Sect's of Defense candidate - and a Republican
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Hagel

Chris Dodd

Bill Richardon

Kwiatowski is a Libertarian from your link, and Hagel's a Repub. who is too conservative on issues besides the war.

97. she says that almost as much as she says YOU KNOW. when will people...
stop demonizing her. it makes me really dislike obama, even though i know it's not his fault. the only way i find i am able to take him seriously as a candidate is to stay away from DU. but unfortunately there is some information here i need. then i come back to get it and end up really disliking his candidacy because many of his supporters insist on demonizing her. it's a good thing november is far enough away hopefully i can't wrap my head around that he is not a reflection of his support. not meaning you specifically jenmito. i know people are disenchanted and that he speaks to thsoe people, but in general it can get very immature around here and when she become the "monster" and this and that from his supporters it's hard for me to not link the two. so for right now i really am disliking obama based on all the threads from obama supporters that are demonizing hillary, it's really too much. and i actually work on trying to like him.

And if you're really influenced in your opinion of OBAMA because of what his SUPPORTERS say, I don't know what to say except that's not true with anyone I know in real life...as far as I know.

http://www.google.com/search?q=debate+hillary+transcript+as+far+as+i+know&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

and that's just debates, when someone asks her a question, she qualifies it with 'as far as i know' almost as a habit at this point depending how accusatory the question is or how it is asked, etc.

96. Naw, just encouraged the smear.
Her camp leaked that photo of Obama in Somali garb.

She herself equivocated when asked if Obama's a Muslim with that "as far as I know" crap.

Now she's switched to racist dogwhistling to the Archie Bunker demographic since the Obama-is-a-Muslim smear isn't sticking.
