Complete video for Plainfield speech today

I don't have a TV, so I have to troll for on line video. For others who might be inthe same boat, or who just missed coverage earlier, here's a link to Obama's speech in Plainfield today. The whole speech is good, the listeners are diverse and excited. At about 14:50 in part 1 he addresses the Wright issue for a few minutes.

economics and opportunity, too.

- energy, especially ethanol, especially the issue of
US production. Says corn-based ethanol isn't the best
answer, but it's a good step to sugar cane or switchgrass
fuels. He'll use carbon charges to help support the switch.

- the true meaning of security in this country, and how we have
given up freedom to get it - nice shout out to the Secret Service

- comments on China and human rights, specific mention of Tibet today,
says China is not an enemy, but they are certainly an adversary. The
fact that we have to get along with them doesn't mean have to be
friends.

- talks to the force of organization from the grass roots and
what he can do to encourage involvement.

- things to do right away to make a difference. Review of executive
orders and regulations that are created at the discretion of the
President. The First Three Things: begin Iraqi withdrawal immediately,
start on a bipartisan and widely subscribed solution to health care
crisis (we need a health care system, not a disease care system), the
energy plan as mentioned above.

- How do we fix No Child Left Behind? We need standards, but not by
'a single high-stakes mandated test'. Testing needs to be a tool
teachers use to support teaching, not the goal of teaching.

- what can be done to address the long term Social Security issue. It's
not a crisis, but there is a problem.

- question from a 12 year old on how to increase awareness of black
history for all students; also women's history, Hispanic history,
labor history, the story of the Holocaust. How can teachers get
curriculum support for teachers who want to teach what they
don't know personally.


Anybody know who Obama's ASL interpreter is? She seems to be a fixture. I'm have a smattering of ASL and from what I can tell she's pretty darn good.
