Ted Strickland for vice president?
March 15, 2008 06:23AM
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland will never be vice president of the United States. There, I said it.
With Hillary Rodham Clinton's shocking come-from-in-front win over Barack Obama March 4, plenty of pundits are getting all hot and lathered talking about a Hillary and Ted ticket.

It's so obvious, folks will tell you - what easier way to pave her way to the White House than for Hillary to nab Gov. Ted Strickland as her running mate? With Ted-lovin' Ohio in her back pocket, Hillary would be assured of becoming the nation's first female president. But as the old Hans and Franz skit on "Saturday Night Live" used to say, "Believe me now, and listen to me later, people." It's not going to happen.

For starters, Strickland tells just about anyone who will listen that he doesn't want to be veep. For a while he was even carrying around in his pocket William Tecumseh Sherman's famous declaration of no interest in the White House and handing it to those who asked.

Snip~ "Being a governor isn't rocket science. Fix the schools. Fix the roads. Stimulate the economy across the state. Balance the budget. Keep the infrastructure manageable and affordable.

If you can't do those three things, you shouldn't take time off from your job to work on campaigns for candidates who supported killing the northern tier of your states' livelihood in the name of "free trade".

Also: "(Being married to a president doesn't count. You can be married to a brain surgeon, but that doesn't make you qualified to open up someone's skull.)

1. Oh, Ohio governor
For a frantic minute I had him confused with Ted STEVENS, Repub sentator from Alaska, beeing the veep for McSame.

Gawn, talk about corruption... They'd be fighting each other over bribes!

3. Aarom Marshall has it twisted around.
Hans and Franz said "Hear me now and believe me later." Which makes more sense, as silly as it still sounds, because it implies that they're saying something you'll hear but won't agree with until some future date when you'll realize they were right. "Believe me now and listen to me later" is just wrong.

Anyway, I'm not so sure everyone here in Ohio loves Ted. Yeah, I voted for him in 2006, but the alternative was voting for Ken Blackwell. Naturally, I couldn't vote for Strickland hard enough. That doesn't mean I love him. I do hope he will be a better governor than we've had, but that wouldn't take much.

4. It has been thought for a number of years
she would offer Ted the spot. I would have liked to have seen Ted run for President. I figure her VP will be either Ted or Clark. Ted is a great campaigner, would be an asset to Hillary. Not supporting Hillary here, but will say if she brought Ted on board it would be an asset to her campaign.

ALL of them are too conservative for my blood, though.

What a great unity for our party though, if Ted would be Obama's VP...

5. Ted's a pretty good man but in Ohio, I like Marci Kaptor and Sherrod Brown
a lot better.

Hell, I still like Roxanne Qualls.
