Poll question: The Clinton's: Race Baiting, Racist or Angels?
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 11:16 PM by Quixote1818
In my opinion the Clinton's are not racist but have clearly been trying to bait the Obama campaign into screaming "RACISM"!!! So the country will start seeing Obama as the "Angry Black" Candidate like Al Sharpton or Jackson. They have been successful to some extent with a few Obama supporters screaming racism, however the Obama campaign has been very careful not to fall into this trap. Here are some samples of race bating:

"Jesse Jackson won South Carolina"

"Obama is lucky to be black or he would be losing"

"Obama was selling drugs"

The Obama Muslim rumors

And while the Obama campaign hasn't screamed racism yet, the Clinton campaign still says things like: "Every time someone says something about the campaign, you are accused of being racist." Ferraro

In reality, the last thing the Obama campaign wants to do is call anyone racist because they know it begins to make Obama seem like the angry black candidate. The Al Sharpton candidate. I would suggest the next time the Clinton's try race bating, the Obama camp completely ignore it. They are already getting 90% of the black vote and the more they stay out of any drama about race the more white votes they will keep. Let the Clinton's race bate all they want and steer clear!!!!

And I vote racist, because you have to be one to race bait. I know others feel differently, but it seems pretty obvious to me.

I think they're race-baiters, which is, if anything, worse. x(

11. Yeah the Clinton's are race baiters and Hillary's opponent is just above the fray
Now that Reverend Wright's out of the closet, it's impossible to see Hillary's opponent as some wronged innocent on race baiting.

17. Trivia time. Only one prez candidate in history has said sd's should vote for him because of color
Only one candidate has had his cronies (unless you think his national co-chair decided to do this on his own without consulting with the campaign as is the norm and common sense.) asking superdelegates who have the same color as him to vote for him because of his color. Who is it?

A) Gary Hart
B) Bob Dole
C) Mike Gravel
D) Barack Obama

12. They race bait Obama
then run to the Blacks and suck up like they haven't done or said anything racist.

They are playing the division game, trying to divide the blacks.

They don't realize blacks are on to them....ha!

14. They don't even
have to make Obama be seen as the Angry Black candidate. All they really have to do is engage the race conversation - that is enough to turn to voters off. I believe voters will turn away from Obama if they think it will be years of the race conversation when their concerns are about going broke, $4 gas, losing homes and jobs and trying to contain a region of the world bushco has set on fire.

What you posted actually occured to me today - the Clintons will fight as dirty as it takes to win.

Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 11:43 PM by Quixote1818
things would be remarkably civil right now. They basically were civil for a very long time until Obama started to win. It was awesome to see the Democratic Party get along that way. Obama's mistake was to begin to win.

Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 11:56 PM by jackson_dem
What I do know is he supported a church with a racist leader for two decades and made that pastor his mentor. The Clintons have never supported racism in any shape or form. They have walked the the walk. Obama talked the talk while privately supporting the exact opposite of his public "unity" and "post-racial politics" rhetoric. At minimum he is a hypocrite.

20. But doesn't trying to gain from promoting race baiting do harm to blacks?
Considering 90% of Blacks are now voting for Obama (a number that jumped after the race baiting began) Don't you think there is something about what the Clinton's have done that has gotten under their skin?

And what about all the whites that go to Obama's church? They had a video of a white lady who attends earlier. Why would white people go to a church that is racist against whites?

21. 86% of blacks will vote for Clinton if she is the nominee
20% of white Democrats will vote against Obama if he is the nominee. Who played the race card again? The man who has run the most racist campaign since Ronald Reagan in 1980. See post 17 for the prime example.

Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 12:14 AM by Quixote1818
Remember how civil and cerebral things were before the Clinton's started bringing up race? That was before Obama started winning. Keep in mind that I am no huge Obama fan and I almost voted for Hillary here in NM.

25. Those things have been discussed several times
I may address them in a post looking at the timeline, motives, and potential rewards in another thread at a later time that shows who really played the race card. I will say one thing: the Obama campaign brought up race first in November of 2007. This was when they were losing in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada and needed South Carolina to serve as a firewall...

33. You may disagree that it was playing the race card or racist
But it is a simple fact that race was introduced into the campaign by the Obama camp, not the Clinton camp.

35. I see your point
That Jesse Jackson Jr. video did seem to have a vealed race remark in it. It didn't seem like something that came from Obama himself. It was so subtle I don't think many people caught it. My personal feeling is that the Obama campaign wants to steer clear from any of that even if they feel that way personally. They don't want to risk being labeled the Al Sharpton campaign.

30. As if they had a motive to do so heading into the first majory black primary after two upset wins...
The motive was with the one who needed a big win in SC, like Jesse Jackson on racial lines, to have enough momentum to have a good Super Tuesday...Playing the race card would benefit only one candidate, especially since the white vote would be split between Edwards and Clinton. There was no incentive for the Clintons to cough up SC by killing themselves with a group that made up half of the SC Dem primary electorate. The incentive was with the candidate who, if there was racial voting, would win since he was the only black candidate while two candidates would split the white vote. This is exactly what happened.

29. I suck at grammar and spelling because I am Dyslexic
You should see my posts before I do a spell check. Failed 2nd grade because I couldn't spell or read. I was antagonized by people like you all my life, having to hear "Oh, you are in the dumb class."

You could have been polite and pointed out the grammar mistake but you decided to be rude and childish.

Well, that kid who couldn't spell or read, grew up to become a writer. You can purchase my book at the link below.

34. Thank you.
I don't mind people correcting my spelling because I learn that way. Someone pointed out that I was spelling the word "lose" wrong. I had been spelling it "loose". They informed me with a polite PM and since then I have always spelled that word correctly.

I tend to use apostrophes by habit. I just type them automatically, sometimes in the word "Its" at the wrong time even though I know the difference. I just type it without thinking. Thats actually what I did in this instance.

If people think I am bad, they should read my sisters writing. She is 55 and still can hardly read yet she owns her own Interior Design business http://www.chambersinteriors.com/ and has done very well for herself. She simply has secretaries do all her writing for her.
