It's funny how a few days can change the trajectory of this race.

Late last week so many people were ready to write Obama off. They explained to us Obama supporters that THIS was finally the thing that would bring his campaign down. No way could Obama do enough to stop the bleeding and surely his campaign would torpedo in the days and months ahead. Then that Rasmussen poll was released, showing Obama dropping 4 points in one day and they used this as evidence of his plunge. All that was left, they said, was for Obama to drop out and endorse Clinton. Some suggested he wouldn't even be fit for the Vice Presidential spot on that ticket, since he'd even lose his senate seat over this. They actually believed Barack Obama's campaign for president collapsed as fast as it rose.

Well a funny thing happened on the way to campaign destruction. His poll numbers rebounded, he received a wink-wink endorsement from the most powerful Democrat in Congress, re-won Iowa by an even bigger margin, picked up a major labor endorsement in Oregon, was exonerated by a right-wing Chicago paper in the Rezko case and his delegate lead over Clinton is the LARGEST it's ever been.

Yup, looks like he's cooked.

2. The whole problem with all of that was simply Clinton people doing the ...
old wishful thinking thing again.... I don't believe that there is anything that will stop Obama from becoming the next Democratic Presidential Nominee.

5. Irish, yes, but Obama might have helped with the perception --
You should read a DailyKos Diary by Yalin called "The Return of Obama." Is among the diaries on the right hand side. It's good, and outlines his many appearances and interviews on and by the MSM. A great read, and included is a video.

7. I think that is a big reason behind his campaign not taking a bigger hit.
Regardless, I never thought this would doom him, but it could've been like an ingrown toenail, offering a minor discomfort at first, but unchecked it could really get ugly and infected. He defused it perfectly, which is exactly what I thought he would do. Clinton supporters really underestimate him.

10. I think you're reading too many Obama press releases
It's my impression that the Wright and Rezko stories did get some traction and that Obama's position is not as strong as it was. It's still strong, though, but he certain lost some ground. We'll see how that translates in the coming weeks. Very little changes overnight.

12. Did I say he didn't lose ground?
But it didn't sink his campaign, did it? And this issue seems to be quelled far better than most on here thought it would be. Only those with their heads in the sand would call GAINING in the polls and delegates evidence of a campaign collapsing.

11. The campaign whipsaw. It'll get you crazy.
There were several things that Obama did right.

He got out in front of the Pastor Wright scandal, by making strong personal appearances not only in friendly venues i.e. Keith Olbermann, but going into the lion's den of Fox News. No leaving this to surrogates.

He held that press conference with Chicago reporters about Rezko and by all accounts answered every question throughly and repeatedly without losing his cool.

He also had a bit of luck. Pastor Wright got knocked off the air by a tornado that hit downtown Atlanta and trashed CNN headquarters and of course there was that crane that collapsed and crushed a building and several people in New York City.
