Would Hillary be running on experience if Bill Richardson was her only opponent?
Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 01:39 PM by bluestateguy
Let's say that Obama fizzled out and we were now facing a situation where Bill Richardson was Hillary's only real competitor. Would Hillary's campaign be hitting the same talking points about experience and "ready on day one"? In the end, if primary voters wanted the most experienced candidate they would have chosen Richardson, Biden, Dodd, or even Kucinich.

So how would Hillary have tuned her campaign message then?

1. Change and hope, probably
There's really only so many templates candidates can run on.

2. She would try, but look like an ass doing so. Richardson was my first choice.

3. No
I've said repeatedly, "experience" could only be unfurled after the Nevada Caucus. Indeed, in his last debate, Richardson was desperately playing up the importance of experience because it put him above Clinton.

I wonder, though, how many Hispanos/Latinos would have had their membership in MeChA exposted if Richardson were still in the race?

4. No matter who she's running against
she's still padded her resume. Would a perspective employer hire someone who's has fattened up their experience for the job like hilary and who's record shows incredibly bad judgement where so many people lost their lives?

7. She shouldn't be running on her experience now. Just because
you're alive and breathing for 35 years post college, doesn't mean it's all experience geared to be POTUS. She's a very smart woman, but she's being very dumb about this. If you puff the resume, someone is going to blab and it looks pretty silly when Sinbad steps forward to describe the Bosnian peace mission.

8. AS I said when the same question was posed about Edwards:
yes:

because the strategy of the nomination phase of her campaign seems to center around the issues she wanted to build for a GE race against Rudy....

With no plan B (still) what could she do differently.
