Obama's pastor: no different than many others
If you look at right-wing Christian Web sites, you will see LOTS of calls for "judgment" on America. But, let a black pastor say it and suddenly, it's beyond the pale. Right.

This is what is obvious to me: This "controversy" is being used cynically as an attempt to distract people so that they will ignore policy issues. And why does the GOP want us to ignore real policy issues? Bear Stearns is one reason. McCain's lack of workable ideas is another reason.

McCain is the most politically flat-footed candidate we have seen in decades. The longer the GOP and other Obama opponents can keep people distracted from that, the better it is for them.

1. Have you seen this article?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/frank-schaeffer/obamas-minister-committe_b_91774.html

This article essentially makes the same point you did (which is dead on, BTW).

3. I had not seen that
Good article.

I think ANY pastor who says such things is full of crap. I also think Obama was right to distance himself from that message. But one can hate the sin and love the sinner.

4. I also think
That Obama was right to denounce the comments and that the congregation was right to nudge the guy out.
