Obama is on the defensive.
He needs to find a way to go back on the offensive. I would suggest he give a major speech about the present conditions in Iraq and the present state of our economy. He may want to mention that John McCain just went back to Iraq today and was not able to visit the same marketplace he strolled thru the last time he was there? Why? Because it is now under the control of the radical sheik, Muqtada al Sadr. And that is progress?

Also, since John McCain admitted that he did not know much about economics, Obama might suggest he call an emergency meeting with Jack Kemp or whomever are his economic advisers and get caught up to speed. Things are not good. In fact, they are very bad.

Obama needs to go on the offensive and stop playing defense. He may want to also challenge the enablers on talk radio that have been cheerleaders for this Administration and its misguided policies? He may want to mention Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh by name. They have been wrong since the start. Why should anyone believe anything they say now?

Furthermore, he may want to describe exactly the mess we are in? We cannot afford more Republican wars. We cannot afford more Republican taxcuts for the wealthy. We cannot afford more trickle-down economics. We need a major overhaul of everything this Administration has done. John McCain is just 4 more years of George W Bush. We cannot afford that. Out of necessity, we have to change.

1. I don't really get the impression
He's on the defensive. I think the Wright thing has pretty much blown over and the latest polls show him moving up.

5. When he has to respond to attacks from Hillary or the media...
He is on the defensive. He needs to get them to respond to his comments.

11. It's difficult when he is attacked from the middle and the right.
If he doesn't respond then he is "not answering the charges" and if he does respond, he is being defensive... and if he attacks, they whine about him going negative and being like Ken Star.

Plus you have McCain's bringing in idiots like that right wing talk show host... those misfire more often than they land, but it soaks up news cycles.

Policy is now out the window, who cares about policy when you have all these stupid distracting bullshit. Tomorrow, expect a different one... that's the Clinton strategy... an "issue" every day.

Speech impresses Plainfield audience

As audience members poured out of Plainfield High School, Deborah Lafata, a 39-year-old nurse from Indianapolis, stood outside, holding a sign that read “Indiana has Democrats too,” a tribute to Indiana’s renewed role in the primary process.

“When I first moved here you realize you are kind of left out of the process, but we can actually make a difference in the primaries this year for the first time in a long time,” she said.

Lafata said she came out to Obama’s speech still undecided about which candidate she would vote for, adding that she was still concerned about his experience. But she said his speech may have tilted her in his direction.

“I really liked how he took questions from the audience. I looked to see if he was spinning or talking from the heart, and he seemed to have been heartfelt,” she said.
“I’m going to go see Hillary if I’m able to, but I told my girlfriend who was sitting next to me, I may have already decided now.”

Others were also impressed by his appearance.

“I was really moved by it. People would ask questions and he would go in depth about the topic for a long time and you could tell he’s done his research and could go in deep,” said Lakshmi Hasanadka, a 33-year-old lawyer from Indianapolis.

“Everyone knows he has the power to inspire, but he really talked in-depth about policy. I saw a depth of knowledge and the ability to make some change, not just talk about change."

Yeah, he sounded real "defensive".

Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 08:26 PM by BeatleBoot
You should have heard the folks talking about it today at church.

Not good for Obama at all.

He's back on his heels, for sure.

And I don't think this whole thing has played out yet.

Stay tuned.

7. I wish they would bring up the Billions missing in Iraq and ask where all the Oil profits in Iraq
are going. After all, this war was supposed to pay for its self. I don't know why the Democrats are not hitting on these issues every fucking day like relentless Bull Dogs.

9. Up to this point, I agree...
However, he does not have the nomination sewed up, quite yet. He could still lose the popular vote and that would be enough for many Super Delegates to throw their support behind Hillary. Just my opinion.

"Unemployment is through the roof. Underemployment is rampant. Banks are in trouble. Hardworking people are losing their homes at record rates. Every day brings news of more administration officials involved in crime and corruption. and Iraq and the rest of the Middle East descending into chaos. Yet Resident Bush, Senator McCain and Big Media keep telling you how great everything is. Well their time is over. The people are going to take this country back from the old politics and the media hatemongers".

13. Link Iraq war vote with failing economy.
Hillary Clinton voted for the Iraq war. The economy is failing because of the staggering cost of the Iraq war and Afghanistan war. Bring the troops home and work on the economy. Alternative energy investment is the next big area to create jobs, and R$D investment in alternative energy. And our crumbling infrastructure needs fixing. We're facing a potential Great Depression and we'll need an FDR type president.
