Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 10:49 PM by physioex
You do realize people have been kicked out for voting inappropriately in a poll?

Edit: I don't understand your name. Shrub was never from Texas. He just adopted it as his home state.

6. The point is
I have had several friends say they would vote for McCain before they would vote for Hillary or before they would vote for Barack if their candidate does not win.

I don't see how any Democrat could say that.

I will vote for any Dem nominee to insure McCain does not win... because I love the Earth, humans, animals, and plants.

I've been kicking around a photoshop idea I just can't seem to pull off which shows McCain eating birthday cake with President Killagain while Katrina drowned NOLA and some capture saying we can't afford another President with such poor judgment again. Can you help?

whatever you say and think about HRC. we can't lose this election about hurt feelings, that your candidate did not win.Let her beat the rethug. and then keep the pressure on to do the right things. If you are still not happy, vote her out after her first term.Remember as long as they keep us divided the have a chance to win, and prolong the agony.Stop with the meaningless platitudes and threats. We all here, with the exception of a couple rethug freepers handing around, get rid of as many rethugs as possible. Report completed Captain Kirk.

72. I haven't done it yet., because I'm not sure.
I thought this was a democracy though. I thought voting for somebody would be effectively voting for that somebody. I don't believe we can come near to having an effectively democratic society if we do not allow ourselves to function as a democracy.

I know a lot of people don't like him running, because they feel he takes votes away from the democrats. But what isn't understood is that once those of us who get into the third party mindset get to that point, we have almost effectively decided to negate voting at all. In that case, were Nader not on the ballot(or in the picture) we would probably not vote at all for a presidential candidate. And I know many people who have had that mindset in previous elections and I am coming close to that mindset myself.

Like I said, it all depends on whatever path my train of thought/philosophy takes between now and November, and how convinced I am that my man Obama is really the man.

In 1976, Ralph Nader was asked to be on the ticket by Jimmy Carter. Because of his current mindset that serving in the ranks of the highest echelons of power would do to somebody's ideology, he did not do it. It is clear Nader is not running for president because he wants to be president but more so because he wants to make a larger point concerning the direction the democratic party has taken since the mid 80's.

But yeah, I guess something that's left out in the poll is whether people would go third party if their candidate doesn't win. That might be my case.

I really don't know yet.

Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 11:09 PM by sorrybushisfromtexas
First of all I left off the most important choice, I did add as soon as I realized it had been left off.
I would vote for any Democratic Nominee before I would vote for a Republican.

I heard on the radio today that 25% of Hillary Supporters said the wouldn't vote for Obama if he gets the nomination.
Only 10 % of Obama voters said that they would not vote for her if she gets the nomination.
I found that hard to believe that any Democrat would not vote for our nominee.

I'm an Obama supporter, but you can damn sure bet I'll vote for Hillary Clinton if she's our nominee...

How in the fuck can any Democrat even think of voting for John "W" McCain; Do you not care about the Iraq war?, Do you give a damn about the dangerous right turn the Supreme Court has taken? - Say Stevens and/or Ginsburg decides to retire, I know I have total confidence in Clinton or Obama making that next SCOTUS appointment, think where the court ends up if McCain makes that appointment...

It's the same "logic" as spousal abuse, I guess.

Sadly, the "centrists" (corporatists flying "D" colors) will go for McCain ... and account for a 2-vote difference each.

The "leftists" (you know, the folks told to shut up and take it?) will only go 3rd party or not vote ... and only account for a 1-vote difference.

Asymmetrical ... like a hostile takeover.

depending on how the nomination is won, and what the campaign afterwards is like.

Again, I certainly wouldn't vote for McCain, but I might vote my former party Peace and Freedom if things are very nasty and I feel betrayed by the nominee/party.

I won't vote for Nader again (!)

62. Amazing, of the 114 votes as of this posting
28.9% will either not be voting at all, or voting for a REPUBLICAN (and when I say Republican, voting 3rd party is as good as voting that way and you know it) (Oh wait, not voting AT ALL might also qualify as voting Republican)

Sad..just sad

I am sorry, if a FART is our Dem nominee I will vote for it (and yes, each side can sling out that the other side might very well BE a fart), this country means more to me than a personal beef or agenda. So what if my feelings "get hurt" if my chosen candidate is not the one? Boo hoo. I have family who DIED so this country could exists as a democracy. That is important to me, and the Republicans have no real desire to tend to the constitution or this country as a Democracy in ANY way.

My vote will be for the D...no matter WHOM it is.

If you think McCain is the lesser of the two shits and would like to see HIS appointees for SCOTUS sitting long enough to screw my great grandchildren, then you need to find another board.

If shit is all you get to vote for, then shit it is, but my shit will have a D next to their name....will yours?
