Obama based keynote speech and "Audacity of Hope" on Wright's sermon "Audacity to Hope"
Later he would base his 2004 keynote speech to the Democratic National Convention on a Wright sermon called "Audacity to Hope," --also the inspiration for Obama's second memoir, "The Audacity of Hope."

From the Chicago Tribune (which endorsed Obama for President)

REV. JEREMIAH A. WRIGHT, JR.: Pastor inspires Obama's 'audacity'
In Wright he had found both a spiritual mentor and a role model.
...
Wright helps keep his priorities straight and his moral compass calibrated.

Because from what I read on DU, Obama only knows about the sermons he heard in person.

4. Wright's sermons are 100% aligned with Democratic ideals. You have a fucking problem with that?
If you do, you don't belong here.

It's one thing to say his style makes you uncomfortable.

It's another to say you find fault with his views of social justice.

16. Wright is right about a lot of things... not the problem... its the few soundbytes that
sound horrible to people who don't know better.

Sad but true.

If BO hadn't claimed Wright as his mentor and such, then it would just be guilt by association, but he's tied very tightly with Wright's words.

It may not matter that much though, since people may be over the shock of it...

Then again, if the GOP can bring it up again with some new crap in the GE, then he's sunk.

I listened to the audio because I would not want to speak in ignorance. The imagery of Hanna and the harp sending out the message of hope fits today's divisive culture, and is perhaps also a fitting metaphor for DU's posters who actually care to get the facts straight.

Conveniently overlooking the egregious missteps of Rezko and his pastor Wright for all these years, all the while attempting to pump up his 'judgment', reveals a true and profound dichotomy of the spirit.

Obama has allowed his ambition to drive his logic into a twisted and damp web of deception.

http://www.dissidentvoice.org/2007/12/culling-the-herd/

"Kissinger targeted a number of “key countries” whose populations, he said, must be curtailed and controlled lest they gain economic, political and military strength, and thus threaten US strategic interests. “Depopulation should be the highest priority of foreign policy towards the third world,” Kissinger said, “because the US economy will require large and increasing amounts of minerals from abroad, especially from less developed countries.”

snip

"According to Forrest M. Mims III, Chairman of the Environmental Science Section of the Texas Academy of Science, and the editor of The Citizen Scientist, Pianka shrugged aside war and famine — too slow — and said “the most efficient and fastest way to kill the billions that must soon die” is disease. Pianka advocates airborne Ebola because, he explained, “it is highly lethal, and it kills in days, instead of years.”

Pianka drew rounds of enthusiastic applause throughout his speech, and a standing ovation when he threw in the Bird Flu for good measure, and quipped gleefully, “We need to sterilize everybody on the Earth.” Five hours later, the University presented Pianka with a plaque, not for winning hands down as “Mad Scientist of the Year,” but in recognition of his being named 2006 Distinguished Texas Scientist.

It doesn’t take a wild imagination to know that genocide is real, and it’s underway in America. The most blatant example is the barbaric response to Hurricane Katrina victims — withholding food, blocking aid, ignoring those clinging to rooftops while crying out in vain for help, leaving corpses to float in the flooded streets or to rot in the Superdome. If you start with the poor, minorities, elderly, the ill or non-productive, the culling becomes much easier the next time around. Those who wait become inured to the inhumanity and, rather than rise up against it, breathe sighs of relief that it’s others and not them who are rounded up and herded to the slaughterhouse."
