Bill Clinton, Brad Pitt meet in storm-hit area

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton met with actor Brad Pitt and hundreds of volunteers in the Lower 9th Ward on Sunday at the site where a foundation headed by Pitt plans to begin building affordable homes for Hurricane Katrina victims.
"We hope to see a huge change here in the next six months," Pitt told a group of residents as he posed with them for pictures Sunday and signed autographs.

Pitt and Clinton walked a street as hundreds of volunteers on either side, wielding shovels and rakes, prepared the land for homes. For hours, they cleared overgrown grass and weeds that were covering street drains and sidewalks.

The Lower 9th Ward was one of the hardest-hit neighborhoods in New Orleans when Katrina struck on Aug. 29, 2005, causing the city's levee system to fail with devastating flooding.

>

Side-by-side Pitt and Clinton broke ground with shovels after their mingling with the volunteers.

Before his stop in the 9th Ward, Clinton participated in a forum with student journalists to discuss issues important to America's college students. Students from the University of Southern California, Howard University and Tulane University were among those who to participated.

The event was taped and segments are scheduled to air on March 26 on mtvU, MTV's college network which broadcasts to more than 750 college campuses nationwide.

3. So, is Hillary running on her own
or is she tied to Bill and what Bill does should be considered an act of Hillary?

Are all things Bill all things Hillary and vice-a-versa?

Just trying to get this clear for the future.

BTW, many that live there think BC is all talk, he's been there before and made promises and the promises haven't been realized. Pitt is the one that has been taking actual steps.

5. Only "you" mentioned Hillary..........
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 10:39 AM by Alamom

Bill gets bad press and it's posted, regardless. Events of 3 decades of his life are brought up here almost daily. Most having nothing to do with Hillary's campaign.

This is a good story that has nothing to do with the campaign other than he's married to a presidential hopeful and he's our only 2 term Democratic President for about 50 years or so.

Either you confused the forums or you intended to tie Bill's good work to Hillary.

Bill isn't a candidate in the Primaries, now is he.

Honesty is a good thing, it really is.

And some folks in NOLA wonder if Bill will keep his promise this time. Would you like to make that part of your story?

Or maybe, what is Hillary doing, what will she do?

12. To tie to the candidate, to try to impact the appropriate candidate.
Like I said, honesty is a good thing.

So does Hill get credit for all things Bill?

Need to know how you will respond to future Bill news that may not be as "good news" as you perceive this to be.

And hopefully this time Bill will live up to his promises made to the folks in NOLA.

26. Hillary claims the experience and the credit - like by vulcan`
mind melt - as a result of her being wife to the president. Of course she had no national security clearance, but that doesn't matter. The poster posted this thread in the PRIMARIES forum to try to give the warm fuzzy for Hillary because of Bill's good works.

If and/or when Michelle runs for office and claims experience because Obama held the office, then you will find similar complaints and comments from me if a like thread is posted.

Hillary claims credit and experience she doesn't have and didn't earn, you just said so yourself.

;)

7. Sickening how low they'll stoop
isn't it?

To turn a nice story like this one - finally, people doing something more than *talk* about helping New Orleans - and some partisan hack tries to turn it into an anti-Hillary rant.

Go Brad! Go Bill! If I didn't live in poverty myself, I'd send money to Pitt's foundation.

do you want to comment on that? At least Clinton is acknowledging a good deed.
