In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, Monday’s numbers show Obama with 46% support from Likely Democratic Primary Voters while Clinton earns 44% of the vote (see recent daily results). Among Democrats, Clinton leads 48% to 42%, but Obama has a substantial lead among unaffiliated voters likely to participate in a Democratic Primary.

The dialogue about Wright’s controversial comments appears to have had at least a short-term impact on public perceptions of Barack Obama. The Illinois Senator is viewed favorably today by just 47% of voters nationwide. That’s down five points since last Thursday (see recent daily results). The number with an unfavorable view of Obama has risen from 44% on Thursday to 50% today. Among White voters, Obama is now viewed favorably by 43% and unfavorably by 54%.

15. Not surprisingly, the OP left out this part from Rasmussen...
Looked at from a slightly longer perspective, Obama’s overall favorable ratings peaked at 56% on February 21, shortly after he won the Wisconsin Primary. At that point, Clinton began raising questions about Obama as part of the campaign that ultimately enabled her to win the Texas and Ohio Primaries. Since then, Obama’s net favorability ratings have fallen seventeen points (from plus 14 points on February 21 to minus 3 points today).

3. This will likely reverse and become more Favorable over the following weeks.
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 10:29 AM by quantass
As the media starts to focus on other things (as they always do in time) and he continues campaigning his favorable rating will rise again. These stats are not a surprise and was expected by many because of the onslaught of attacks by all angles. Once the media has had their fill (for ratings) they will move on.

Had this all came out the week before the election it could be different but it's way too soon and will pass.

12. It was a bomb shell...

I can not support Obama after seeing the hate from the pulpit of the church he supports. Wright looked like Hitler but with sillier garments. Deal done for me.

Since NEITHER of the candidates will be able to close the deal before the Convention, are there any "grown-ups" in the party that can save this from becoming a train wreck? I fear either Hillary or Obama will take the party down in the GE. I never saw a possibility of a RETHUG getting enough support to win.

I am sick over this.

18. Do YOU see Obama as an "Angry Black Man" now?
Then TeamClinton's Mission is Accomplished, isn't it?

Even knowing that Obama is the next Dem nominee, TeamClinton WANTS Obama's polls lowered and want Americans to see him as the Angry Black Man just for defending himself.

Clintons and Bushes - shared political values.

Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 11:00 AM by anonymous171
This was obviously the Clinton's trump card. They were probably going to release it a week before the primaries but they saw how the Ferraro thing was hurting them so they released it now to negate the damage.

28. You really think the Clintons are 'naive' and innocent, don't you? Every move they made that hurt
the Dem party or this nation has resulted in great benefits for Bushes and their powerful cronies, and you think Clintons only act innocently.

Devotion can be cute - but ever stop to consider how that blind faith of yours has ended up hurting this nation?

If you think Wright's sermons, played all September and October, are going to convince swing voters in flyover country to vote for Obama, you are truly delusional.

35. Ok, buddy, you keep thinking that.
I'm not going to get into a pissing match over an unknown. You think what you want, as I'm sure you're going to try and find anything to use against Obama in the general election. Well the fact this has done little damage to his poll numbers, even though it's a recently broken story, pretty much negates any argument you have.

But you keep believing that. :)

38. Since when did we elect based on POLLS?
Obama has still won a considerable amount of Democratic support in the primaries. So I don't really get your point, unless you think this poll is going to decide who wins the nomination?

I wouldn't worry about this poll too much. McCain's numbers will drop once the voters get to see him in debates against the Dem nominee and he starts getting put under the microscope that our Dem candidates have been under the past few months.
