I was push polled on Rev. Wright last night.
They went to some lengths to disguise it, but it was definitely a push poll. After several questions about who I was going to vote for in the primary, the caller repeated a direct quote from Wright and then asked me if that changed my opinion. This is in North Carolina. Supposedly Clinton is staying away from this issue. I don't know why the Republicans would be doing this now.

What sort of questions did they ask, and how many?

43. Well, Rasmussen WAS polling about Rev. Wright, is all I'm saying....
It's easy to misremember hearing, or maybe the pollster forgot to read the speil completely:

POLL: Rasmussen Rev. Wright

Rasmussen Reports

Rev. Jeremiah Wright
Favorable 8%, Unfavorable 58%

"Most voters, 56%, said Wright's comments made them less likely to vote for Obama. That figure includes 44% of Democrats."

-- Eric Dienstfrey

Link to the Rasmussen "product: " http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/people2/just_8_have_favorable_opinion_of_pastor_jeremiah_wright

Seventy-three percent (73%) of voters say that Wright’s comments are racially divisive. That opinion is held by 77% of White voters and 58% of African-American voters. In addressing the issue, Obama warned against injecting race into the campaign .

Most voters, 56%, said Wright’s comments made them less likely to vote for Obama. That figure includes 44% of Democrats. Just 11% of voters say they are more likely to vote for Obama because of Wright’s comments.

However, among African-Americans, 29% said Wright’s comments made them more likely to support Obama. Just 18% said the opposite while 50% said Wright’s comments would have no impact.

Scott Rasmussen discussed the impact of Pastor Wright’s comments this morning on WTVT Tampa.

Overall, voters are evenly divided as to whether Obama should resign his membership in the Church—42% say that he should while 40% disagree. White voters, by a 46% to 33% margin, say that Obama should leave the Church. African-American voters, by a 68% to 16% margin, say he should not. Wright retired last month as Pastor of the Church.

The story became big news in the past several days and has had at least a temporary impact on public perceptions of Obama. Last Thursday, 52% of voters nationwide had a favorable opinion of Obama. That figure has fallen to 47% on Monday (see recent daily results). In recent days, Obama has also lost ground to John McCain in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

Sixty-six percent (66%) of voters say they have read, seen, or heard news stories about Wright’s comments.

A recent Fox News report looked at the question of whether or not Wright is a political liability for Obama .

They provide a link to Fox coverage (carried within their website) of the controversy.

He is trying to sabotage his own campaign with push polls. Hillary is the victim of Obama's self destructive push polls.

Vote for Hillary, she is the victim.

39. It's not from any news organization down here or a national one.
This follows the same method of operation discovered in earlier states.

Be honest - whether you knew it for certain or not doesn't really matter to you anyway. Until the proof smacks you upside the head, in your world Clinton wouldn't do something so low, and then when it DOES smack you upside the head, you'll defend her need to do something that is no longer so low to you. We've watched this play out for months now.

I think you just don't know how low Clintons have gne to backstab and undermine other Dems in their quest to maintain control of the dEm party.

Always defending Bush publicly at crucial points:

THAT is the type of Democratic leadership YOU want - closed government Democrats charged with continuing the protection of BushInc.

3. Exactly why I have lost faith in the democratic party. I truly hope Obama drops out
he does not deserve this. Nothing in his ENTIRE public life has ever mirrored the 2:00 of Wright. Yet the media hypocrisy that all these years when you have pastors on the right saying crazy things and he is being politically and personally destroyed for being in a church with 1 crazy pastor.

Of course the Hillary campaign surreptitiously on it behind the scenes. If Obama did this she would be up there having a meltdown about it.

24. No I would not be cheering him on it because this is the type of attack
that democrats don't traditionally do on each other. Obama has NEVER EVER in this entire campaign brought up any of Bill's past, or Hillary's past for that matter.

Hell, I knew he made a mistake with the "your likeable enough" moment. Personal, racial, religous, and gender attacks are not what dems do; that is reserved for the right-wing.

I honestly do because what he being attacked for is not even fair.
It is not like it is a policy issue or some other bad thing that he said or did himself. IF this was a Spitzer like issue I would be all over him.

I have seen for years the republicans get away with remarks from others VERY VERY close to them and suffer no repercussions. Here you have a pastor with 2:00 of soundbites and all of a sudden he is the voice behind the ENTIRE person that is Barack Obama. It is ridiculous and I would leave, endorse no-one, and go back to the senate.

for a huge blowout in Pennsylvania, so they don't care about lying to their Dem audiences and voters - they don't RESPECT the intelligence of Dem voters any more than Bushes respect the intelligence of GOP voters.

21. It would be a total waste of money, and the campaign is watching those dimes.
I don't buy the thesis that it's Clinton's campaign doing this.

In fact, if I had to guess, I'd say a Before And After effort might be underway--it could be Obama's camp, trying to see if support is slipping. Or if it gets better after his speech.

Or some other polling outfit trying to see if the speech makes any difference.

27. It also could be a national poll that just hit a few people in a key state....
....could be anybody hoping to show Barack is suffering because of Wright, which also would explain why they'd poll before the speech, when their "data" is more likely to show any negative impact of the Wright story.

29. Legit polls sound much different than push polls
They would have been much more precise about it, and honestly, I don't think asking directly would supply much usable statistical data.

They're supposed to be able to estimate the effect of wright by using the standard poll questions.

30. no, it definitely wasn't legit....that was my point. somebody wants Obama's
national numbers (and/or NC numbers--who really knows?) to look bad, suddenly, because of Wright. Otherwise they'd poll later today or the end of the week. They chose to "poll" pre-speech, which is as significant, I think, as it being a push poll. Let's see who puts out numbers today on it. My guess: Fox News.
