WASHINGTON (CNN) — After weeks of negotiations, the Florida Democratic Party said Monday it will not hold a second primary in the state.

3. Doesn't surprise me
The DNC better figure out an excuse to seat FL's delegates. Otherwise, McCain will take FL. In the last forty years, the Democratic nominee has won the White House just once without FL. And that was the three-way race in 1992.

5. What if the DNC were to say, "Screw the rules!" "We don't need no stinking rules!"
What exactly is the point in having rules if there are no consequences for breaking them? I assume both Florida and Michigan knew and understood the rules and chose to do as they liked, so there should be consequences for their actions. What happens in 2012? Do we just let all the states do as they please and in the end the DNC would also be free to disregard the rules too. Or is it just ok for individual states to blow off the rules?
