Opinions on the "spin" so far?
Does anybody have any opinions on the media spin regarding the speech. I'm watching MSNBC and Buchanan seemed to be trying to talk himself into criticizing it while admitting it was a powerful speech.

4. I give credit to Joe Scar though for pointing out Pat's attempt to distort
what Obama said. While I was watching, Joe did it to Pat twice. I got sick of Pat, too, turned off MSNBC and turned on the radio.

26. After the speech, Buchanan's face was locked into an "Oh, $hit!!1!!"
Joe 'snakelips' Scarborough looked like he was resigned to jumping on the bandwagon.

27. Wow, really??
This is fascinating to me. I'm stuck at work and didn't get to see the speech live, nor the spin, so every little detail helps feed my curiousity, No Surrender!

What else did Scarborough have to say? He was very negative this morning about this speech accomplishing what it needed to; what did he have to say about it after he finally heard it?

28. IMHO, there was a marked difference in Joe's tone after the speech.
The MSNBC crew really set the bar high for Obama this morning before the speech...to the point of almost sickening me. I'm glad I hadn't tuned in from the time I woke up. I tuned in just before the speech was supposed to start.

Anyway, after the speech, Pat tried to distort Obama's words and Joe actually said something like "I gotta call you on it." I heard something like this twice, and one time, Joe pointed out Pat's spin and then followed it up with a clip of the speech.

As I said above, I got tired of Pat's game and turned on the radio, so I don't know how it played out. When I was watching though, Joe definitely tried to keep Pat honest. :-)

30. Thank you!
Sorry I missed all the recaps this morning... I did watch a little "Morning Joe" before leaving for work, which is why I was so shocked to read that ol' Scar had somehow had a moment of clarity after hearing the speech.

Thanks for the awesome recap, No Surrender!

3. The video will be viral by the end of the day.
And by the end of the week and the weeks to come, enough people will see this speech with their own eyes to counter the spin. At least if I have anything to say about it.

5. Buchanan's prejudice shines through every time things like this are discussed. People like him
would never vote for Obama anyway. The rest of the commentators are calling it the way Obama's supporters are calling it-VERY important, very moving, very honest, and very good and powerful.

Stale. Tiresome. So last century. Turn the page on Pat and his ilk. Time for some fresh faces. :D

6. Buchanan is a racist ass. He angered me to
no end. Why does msnbc put him on the air? His opinions are so racially skewed that it shows how sick he is.

9. He represents the racist wing of the human party. His comments were expected by I suspect
that anyone who felt like him would never have voted for Obama anyway. The rest of the people, who may have been turned off by Obama due to the constant playing of Wright's sermonds, WILL be turned back around to Obama's side IMO.

surprised at him and TOLD him so. I liked that.

on my Sirius radio at lunch and the guy that usually does late mornings(his name escapes me) I could tell was pretty moved by the speech. He was trying to cover it up but you could tell by the way he was speaking.

15. Pat Buchanan is about as racist as the come.....which he masks with
practicality and a narrowness of thinking. He's a Nixon man, who discussed with Rev. Graham limiting the influence of Jews in this country.

A bigot like Pat Buchanan has no place on TeeVee, or at least no prominent place on Teevee with his hateful perspective on the issue of race. He is in the 10% of our society who hate just because they can. The fact that he is paid for it, makes it that much more disgusting!
