Clinton's National Director of Operations Leaves Campaign:
Jessica O'Connell, the national director of operations, responsible for personnel management, staff deployment and headquarters operations, has decided to step down. She joins a raft of Patti Solis Doyle loyalists, ranging from wonderkind Adam Parkhomenko to deputy manager Mike Henry, who have departed in recent weeks.

Here is O'Connell's resignation letter.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am writing to share with you that I will be leaving the campaign effective Friday, March 21. I remain awed by the Senator's energy, passion, leadership on the issues, and courage. Senator Clinton will continue to have my full support and admiration. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have worked directly with so many dedicated and talented colleagues in Virginia and throughout the country. No matter what your role, whether you have been with the campaign for days or from the beginning, let there be no doubt that you are making history and helping to change the world.

I will work closely this week with Maggie to ensure that you will be updated on who is handling various tasks from the National office and how to contact them. We have strong teams in place to manage the logistics of getting people where they need to be and offices up and running around the country. At the National HQ, the operations team will continue to ensure that things run smoothly. Of course, if you are in Ballston, I cannot guarantee that you will not be too hot or too cold on any given day - and I will miss the flurry of creative emails I receive on the topic.

Thank you for your friendship and support. This has been a life-changing experience and I am grateful to those who gave me the opportunity to be a part of this remarkable effort.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
O'Connell's resignation should not be interpreted as a sign of chaos in Hillaryland. It's just that Williams's management style is very different than Solis Doyle's.

3. okay
Clinton has made it clear that this campaign is only about her political ambitions, however unrealistic they have become. It appears that her campaign staff may agree with that, and are leaving while they can still find positions and jobs elsewhere. This will likely continue as they gain a clue, while she still has no clue.

5. Good question...
I would guess they would have to replace her, but

6. Good development, but comes a bit late.

Patti Solis Doyle & her loyalists were not a good component of the campaign, and are a big reason that Hillary didn't win by Super Tuesday.

9. Solis Doyle is widely disliked within the Clinton campaign - her "style"
is very unpopular and is responsible for alienating many party officials (see: super delegates).

7. I just got an email from Bill Clinton begging for money to "help level the playing field in PA"!
How funny. He claimed Obama already has his first ad up on the air in PA and they think they'll be outspent 3-1, so they need my help. :eyes:

10. K&R Who would be her counter-part in Obamas camp?
Looks like she was disbursed over $8,000 the month of February.

11. Steve Hildebrand would be the counter-part kind of, maybe.
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 01:57 PM by OnceUponTimeOnTheNet
I'll find my own answers. This is a big role, Steve must be one of those responsible for the smooth and seamless transitions the hugh National camp follows into the small Local camps. They make it look so easy, but I'd guess it is NOT.

• Steve Hildebrand is the deputy national campaign director, a mastermind of field operations

Strange remark. Doesn't fit with the rest of the letter. Almost sounds like some kind of in-joke or code.

13. Ballston is where HRC's campaign headquarters is
It almost implies that Hillary is a rare visitor to her own campaign headquarters or that Hillary has been complaining about the heating/air conditioning on a regular basis. It is the sort of sentence that used to be common in (UK) Civil Service "Officewars" memos; seemingly meaningless but carrying nasty criticism behind a polite facade.
