It would have been a worse mistake for Obama to throw Rev. Wright under the bus

It would've make Obama look like another cowardly politician trying to save his own skin for political purposes. That would be the kind of thing that a stiff like Romney would do.

I applaud Obama.

2. yes
Absolutely. His handling of this whole business is consistent with his conduct all along: that of a man of integrity, who expects the media to rise to his level, rather than stoop to theirs.

4. Well put, Beregond
Most candidates sink so low to the media's level, they end up playing ping-pong with the curb.

5. He Needed To Leave That Church A Long Time Ago
That is, if he expects anyone but the most credulous to believe him.

16. You don't know anything about that church do you?
Do you feel entitled to make such a statement because you're on the internets or because it's a black church or what?

I don't think the people who will read your post are as credulous as you'd like.

7. He did, a little bit, by brushing off Wright's words as "divisive."
Then wound up agreeing quite a bit with Wright.

10. There's not enough room under there anyway.
Not with The gays under there and Paul Krugman and Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame and every other good progressive who's not swooning over Obama.

19. Precisely. Obama made no mistake. He's endured
overt and covert racist attacks on himself, his church and his friend. And, he's done it with poise and intelligence, AND managed to turn the episode into a learning experience for this country.

What mistake?
